While I agree with him in principle, really all this does is paint a target on our collective backs. Doesn't it?

Yes, huge fan of Chalmers and all he's done for us, but this stuff makes me cringe. I know there are people on here who love it when he " sticks it up 'em," but really, there's a limit.
I've been involved in Sports clubs all my adult life, and the genera policy has always been, when we play each other, you're the enemy for the duration of the match, but the rest of the time we're all in it together for the benefit of the game. Im not pretending Lenegan is a particularly endearing individual but what's to be gained by getting so confrontational? Who knows what's down the road and if we will need his support one day?
It's also just plain unprofessional. Presumably the Bulls have a social media policy for all staff? So if a 15 year old Scholarship player goes on Twitter and tells all his mates that another club are a set of w@@@@@s and their u16 coach is a t@@t, then (quite rightly) he will be sent to Mark Dunning for an almighty rollicking. All the lad has to do is point out some of the musings of the leader of the organisation and that's that. Poor old Mark left wriggling in his chair, changing the conversation!

I think Chalmers is basically trying to paint himself as champion of the lower league clubs by taking potshots at SL clubs. Which is, tbh, a sensible stance to take as the SL clubs have pretty much laid down the fact that they're going to only look after themselves and damn every other club outside the SL bubble.

Agreed. It's not a good article. While I understand his frustrations of what's gone on and the "old boys" club SL has become, he just needs to let it go. You see the reaction of some of our championship friends on social media, you can tell we're on the up as they are starting to get rattled. 6k yesterday. A good squad. The youth conveyor belt is ticking over again. He's running the club well (two years ago we turned up at Hull KR with barely a squad, wearing previous seasons jersey with the sponsor taped over) yesterday we watched us beat a good Fev team in front of 6k. He's doing a good job and should concentrate one us and let everyone else please themselves.

It seems a bit more personal to me. I wonder if AC has been given a better brief of the Bulls history and downfall, of which Wigan played a large part with Maurice Lindsey convincing Caisley breaking the Salary Cap was fine and if caught just a slap on the wrists would follow.

If he really knew that much about our club's history, he might recall we did almost exactly the same thing Wigan have just done, breaking the cap over a technicality.
Except ours was worse because it was in a season where we actually won the GF and we didn't even get a points deduction as a result!

May be AC was 'given the club' because Nige secretly wanted it and the plan was to swap jobs as AC actually wants to run the RFL!!!!! No-ones told AC Nige has dropped his end of the bargain and AC is still labouring under the illusion that he's still RFL CEO elect!!!

It's not just IL though is it. There's also Hudgell, Carter and Koukash (even though he doesn't really matter anymore).
We can probably also add those chairmen from the lower league clubs who were excluded from the yorkshire cup. That in itself was another petty act that quite frankly a man of his age and his position should be mature and professional enough to avoid.

When Chalmers is sticking it to the elites who seek to trample all over us and the clubs around us he has my full support.

Yes we should should put our view forward but just reading the full piece in the T&A is uncomfortable. Calling out other lower league clubs in the way he did? I know there's emotion there but it's not doing the clubs rep any good airing it in public every week.

Have you noticed its nearly always the New owners that do this in the press? Beaumont, Koukash, Chalmers etc

Maybe these guys are good guys that the sport needs and are just vocal like fans in the early days when they realise how dated and poorly run our game is.

This is a very good point. Maybe not in this particular instance, but without AC kicking up a fuss about SL teams running roughshod over non-SL teams and the RFL, WOULD they get away with anything?

I don't think he is making himself a pariah either; I imagine 90% of the non-SL teams chairmen support him, even in things like this. Hell, in this case I can even see a couple of SL chairmen supporting him.

He maybe should wind it in a bit, but what he says has the ring of truth in it despite it being delivered in a clumsy fashion.

Can’t say I give a about upsetting a few SL club chairmen. If you believe they will at some point ‘do us a favour’ I’d question your sanity. I’d rather read his true opinions than a load guff each week that is carefully worded to not offend anyone.

I'm more partial to this point of view. If nobody stands up to these guys, then who will? He might be self-appointed and self-righteous but I'm convinced he has the club's and the game's best interests at heart and if he's a thorn in the side of some then who cares? At least he's fighting on our behalf.

Chalmers needs to stop sticking his nose into everything and look closer to home. To start with sorting out the match day experience on game day which is frankly a disgrace.

Why is it a disgrace?

Well based on sunday there was the choas with hundreds of season tickets not scanning.
The ladies toilets behine the stand being closed
The cubicle in the gents in the touchdown bar being out of order
The ongoing issues with the flood lights
The choice (or lack of) of food available
The price of said food and alcohol.
This mght be pedantic but the new electric scoreboard didnt last a full half with out going off and was barely visible from behind the sticks

Now dont get me wrong. None of the above would stop me going.
Hell id be daft enough to go if it was £35 a match and is was -15degrees to watch us play a non league team in the cup, but there are loads of off the field stuff on game day that dont make it a great fan experience most of which wouldnt take much to fix.

We have made massive strides on the field the last couple of years id love us to make a few more small steps off it.

I think the club has plenty of room for improvement as far as matchday offer is concerned too. Most of us on here go regardless of what's on offer but if the club want to attract new supporters they need to do much better. Clubs on much smaller budgets than ours seem manage.
