| Will Kear go with a full strength side or choose to rest a few and give some on the fringes a run? Apparently Hitchcox and Bustin won't play as Cas don't want them cup tied. Laithwaite is already cup tied.
IMO we'd probably lose this heavily anyway so I'd be resting a few key players.

| I'd definitely rest anyone who isn't 100%. We're not going to win this, so to risk having too many top players injured would be madness imo. By all means the players who turn out should play their hearts out and for 'fringe' players it would be an excellent chance to impress.

On the face of it that has to be correct, but Wire wil also have bigger games to look forward to so I wouldn't be shocked if they are bit circumspect too - after all, they're only playing a league one side?

If you take out our five loan players then Kear's hand might actually be forced in a few positions.

| We've got a top of the table clash the week after. As I said going into the Hunslet game, I'd rather Kear put out a second string side as the only priority this season is gaining promotion. The cup is an unneeded distraction

| Can't see too many changes. I would imagine this is a game they all want to play in. If players are carrying knocks then they may be rested, other than that, think we'll be going all out for the win.

| He doesn't seem that keen on resting slight knocks. Some he has, granted, but Ryan had tight hamstrings this week so surprised me he played on a wet heavy field in a game we were almost guaranteed to win!

| Warrington not allowing game to have a delayed stream (surprising as Warrington aren't exactly a team needing brass and are one of the more forward thinking clubs) Least Chalmers's statement was a little more PC this time.
On a more positive note, sounds like it will be a decent following from us with possible 2500 fans going over. Nice little payday.

Warrington aren't allowing a LIVE stream. The full game will be shown at 6pm on Sunday.
And I will be amazed if we take 2500 supporters.
But yes, at least this one was a bit more professionally written than the Workington shambles.

| Yeah, it's a bit more reserved than the Workington one. But I think that's because it's not been a case of the permission being pulled 24 hours before the game after all the preparations including the Proper Sport guys driving all the way to Workington and back to discuss setup positions has happened.
Warrington have said that they don't want the game shown live but have no objection to a delayed showing at 6pm, the same as the other cup games we've had this year.
There are some interesting things said in the statement re future streaming of games mind you. It does seem that the idea is to see how well the service does this year in terms of viewers and the potential for monetizing those views in the future - a sensible course of action and I've no doubt that other clubs will be looking on at Bradford's experiment to see if this is something they could use.

It actually says that they have objected to it being shown at 6pm on Saturday, instead they have to wait until Sunday 6pm to show it.

With streaming being a subject on twitter again and some people moaning at Bradford again for doing it, it will be refreshing to see York's actions for the game against Catalans.
While fans on twitter moan about streaming and Catalans bringing no away fans, York will relish this game as chance to showcase their club to a wider audience and will get a healthy crowd. They're already heavily marketing it. Dont see them moaning about lack of away fans or that its being streamed by the BBC for free so no one will turn up. Great to see and they're putting sl clubs to shame (3.5k at Widness and just over 4k at Huddersfield last week)

| I still think we come across as petulant. We've not earnt that right.
We need as many friends as possible in the game. We've explained our viewpoint so let it go. All that's going to happen is more clubs will refuse just to watch the toys come flying out of Odsal.
Saying 'York have graciously agreed to live stream the game' sounds a million times better than 'Workington won't let us, amateurs' or 'Warrington won't let us and won't say why'

If it's the Beeb doing it I don't see they have any choice, given that they hold the rights anyway. I assume it's being done under their ongoing contract to show cup ties?

York have no say in the matter so let's get that cleared up straight away.
The question here is, do York receive any additional funding/money from the RFL as a result of their cup game being chosen by the BBC as the game they want to broadcast? I suspect that they don't.
But do they care? I wouldn't if I was on the board at York. I'd take it as an opportunity to show anybody watching what a good thing they have going on down there and invite anyone interested to come along.
It's funny how people's opinions change regarding the streaming of matches when it involves a recognised brand and a fee was paid for the privilege. Even though, as mentioned above, York probably don't see any of the money and nobody has any clue how much the BBC are paying for it anyway!

Whilst I agree the statement pre Workington left much to be desired I can't see that Chalmers statement this time should cause any problems. There is of course a difference anyway in that Warrington decided this in good time whereas Workington made a late decision when much preparatory work had been undertaken. I think the current statement sets out our position without suggesting that this should be followed by all RFL clubs.

It's also funny how people's opinions on it change depending on which club is involved, as bias plays a very large factor.
