Did anyone get the attendance today??
BBC has it at 2,223. Just can't believe anywhere near that. Capacity is over 7000. where would 5,000 extra fans have gone?

Nobody is going to believe that figure - you'd have to get three times as many people in to get to capacity, and that clearly wasn't feasible

sportinglife have it the same, Bradford end was overflowing and a large percentage of the main stand was ours aswell

Add a minimum of 1000 to that. All the main stands were full. The side stands were full. Plenty people behind sticks at bottom of slope.

I say about 3.5k there I was at the game as a cas fan jeez you used your get out of jail card in this game.

Doubt anyone who was at game believes batleys figure. Would guess at 4k+

One of the external auditors at a company I worked for told me their most unpopular job was the audit for a professional football club (old Division 2). The audit partner didnt believe the announced attendances (usualy in the region of 15,000) so had the junior staff standing outside the turnstiles counting people going in. A great way to spend a Saturday afternnon, and effectively unpaid.

Not that I'm saying that Batley would deliberately understate the attendance.

Misquoted or not I thought that the way they catered for the away fans was a credit. Stewards who were helpful & friendly and bar staff who were switched on & cheerful will do for me.

They were very lucky indeed to get a win from that game. Batley played very well indeed.

Something's wrong somewhere. Either the capacity is significantly less than 7,500 or the attendance yesterday was significantly more than 2,223. There is no way 5,000 more people could fit in that ground.

Vat has to be paid on gate receipts so that might have something to do with it as the taxman would have no way of checking.

I don't think anybody in there right mind would argue that Bradford aren't the best supported club in the championship, so apart from inflating your ego over that fact what does it really matter how many were there. I would not for one minute accuse them of deflating the attendance figures, clubs like Batley don't get a lot of opportunity to fill their boots financially so even if the unthinkable happened and they did who would criticise them, after all they would not be the first.

Is it possible that the 2223 were the Bulls fans who had bought tickets for the game? As the away club who sell tickets get a percentage of the tickets sold, I believe it would be inconceivable that we wouldn't know those figures anyway!

It was a very fortuitous victory for us as Batley certainly deserved something out of the game

Honestly, I find it hard to believe anyone could take the announced crowd figure seriously

Not sure how attendances are calculated. Who'd have thought we had 5k against Hunslet.

I'm still not sure how you fit another 4,500 in, but at least it's more realistic than the initial figure, and not quite as ridiculous.

Translation: the figure given to the media was made up!

Translation: 'We think the media and supporters who were there will just about buy a figure of 3019, and more importantly we can pay VAT on that figure'
