maybe thats all he was prepared to agree to? kearneys young enough and good enough to still get a deal in NRL so maybe he wants to see how we go next year and keep his options open.

One thing I did consider is whether the fact that Mick Potter is only here for another year might have a bearing? Anyway, I'm pleased he is ready to commit for next year.

I reckon he's given himself a year to convince Bulls4Champ2010 that he's a good enough player and if he can't then he's off to the Championship.

My guess is it might have something to do with the fact that NRL clubs have voted to increase the Salary Cap massively so that they now compete financially with RU. Coupled together with the current exchange rate means that playing in Superleague isn't as attractive as it once was.

Plus there is likely to be two more teams added to NRL over the next couple of years meaning he'll probably be in greater demand down under by the end of next season.

This should see the number of Aussies coming over to Superleague reduced aswell as more English players playing over there. I read a report somewhere that players' agents are now over there pushing English players' names around and that NRL clubs are scouting over here. Players that would once have stayed over here coining it in will now be looking to go over to NRL. Ellis and Burgess both took pay cuts to live the lifestyle out there, now they won't have to (in real terms). It could mean that the most beneficial change for the England team actually comes from overseas. Although initially the standard of Superleague is likely to drop.

Wigan or Warrington mustn't have enough room under the cap next year.

To be fair, he would't get anywhere near either Warrington or Wigan's team.

He's not good enough to get into either side though, is he.

Wouldn'tgo near Leon to be honest Mick. Hes not played for a year.Has all the quality in the world and would demand a big wage. I still think briggs could do the job for us once he has put some beef on and works on his defence.
