Bradford Bulls Holding Limited , has posted a loss before tax of just £10,105 on turnover that was down 11% @ £4,639,613, Compared with the previous years profit of £257,605 on a turnover of £5,153,826.



Commenting on the 2008 results Peter Hood said; "2008 saw a difficult trading conditions that became worse as the the year wore on, and the economy fell into severe recession.

"however, we were quick to respond to the changing economic climate, and to achieve break-even in such challenging circumstances is not a bad result at all "

Is that something official from the club?



I pulled the accounts off the morning they were available for download last week. There is a great deal of interest in the accounts, especially the (as always) very comprehensive Chairman's Statement and also in the Directors' Report (although bear in mind the latter has a statutory function, so the wording etc has to reflect that).

The point being it confirms what Peter Hood said at the Fans Forum re the Club finances, if I remember he also said that this year would also be tough but they would be o/k and again if the Clubs had a League for finances the Bulls would come out top!

I think he was referring to profitability to be honest, and said near the top.

Fair dos to teh club, yes its a loss, but nothing major. Its looking like we are pretty well managed atm financially.

I agree, and whilst I'm no expert, only having a 10K loss ina tough year with turnover down 11% is good going. And its cushioned nicely by the previous profit of 250K and probably the proceedes from Sam this year.



I suspect there are a lot of clubs doing worse than us in this regard.

Totally agree. It would be interesting to see each SL clubs results side by side and talking out any Chairmans loans etc...



Excellent news and one thing that you have to thank Hood for is his financial managment over the post Caisley years.



If we can continue to build the youth system through the current financial downturn we may come out pretty well (especially if the stadium redevelopment happens)

I really don't know why Mick the Sack does it. He must realise by now that his obsession is counterproductive? He wasn't usually unreasonable on here in the last full-time Franchise version, IMO (although not all agree) and he's clearly far indeed from being an idiot despite how too many of his posts appear.



I live in hope that he will one day tread the road to Damascus. Or maybe even sit down sensibly with Hood and Macca and tell them - calmly and without histrionics, to their faces - what he feels about them. And, in turn, give them the opportunity to enlighten him with some inconvenient - and irrefutable - truths.

Interesting that turnover is down 10% I wonder if the recession has affected all clubs or whether it is a reflection on a poor season.



At Huddersfield we had 15% less away fans this season



I would love to see our turnover if anyone knows how to get it.

By that, do you mean:



a) You had 15% less from other clubs visiting the Galpharm



b) You had 15% less of your fans visiting other clubs





Because if it's option B, I don't think that 1 fan will make such a difference really.

Trouble is, if you are anything like Wakefield you will not have to file a full set of accounts, and Abbreviated Accounts do not show turnover or even (usually) a profit and loss account.

Now I know it doesn't work like this but have a think about this for a minute.



We, the fans on this board will wipe out 1/10th of the losses from the season by clubbing together and sponsoring a player or two.

I suspect its a bit of both, but I'd say there have been less away fans at Odsal this season overall, and we've definately taken less away fans on our travels with the odd exception.



I cant speak for anybody else, but the ever increasing cost of petrol and ticket prices coupled with too many away games on a Friday (which are a real pain for me getting from work to home then away given where I live and where I work) have meant I picked my away games last year rather than just automatically go to every one like I used to.



And before anyone says it, the more likely prospect of any bad result was not the reason, if it was I wouldn't have been at Saints on that night this year.

You might have the transfer fee from another player soon as well.
