Our last overseas signing will be announced before the early bird deadline, if I am correct. Just hoping it's not Chris Walker

Why ?

Was there the same negativity before the signing (not that I am saying will happen with Walker) of e.g. Mick Withers, Shonny, Danny Peacock, Danny Gartner, Brad McKay, Penguin, Sir James, Sir Bernard...to name a few - all players where people could find reasons why we should not be signing players like that?

Not being funny, but it does just seem to me that its easy to find reasons why we should not be looking at such-and-such.

When is the early bird deadline?

None of them had Walker's chequered past! In fact if you put all their off field incidents together it'd still be far eclipsed by Chris Walker's record!

That said, he should get the benefit of the doubt, hope we give the bloke a break, he's meant to have turned over a new leaf.

Surely he wouldn't get a visa? I hope we don't announce him then it turns out to be another Bird signing. We might aswell just sign a youngster from the NRL and hope he turns out to be another Robbie Paul or a Shonnie.

I suspect one reason for the perceived delays in announcing overseas signings is precisely because the club are trying to avoid a repeat of the Bird debacle? And not announce until the stamp is in the passport...

Yeah, I suspect thats the truth, but when you look at his record, is there any point in even attempting that signing ? Hopefully it was just rumours and it's died down a little now. I don't think we shuold let the last overseas spot go to waste though.

Given the lack of talent around in England it would be a missed opportunity to not fill the quota. I hope the club have a backup if the Walker deal falls through.
