As much as I'd like to see the under performers dropped to hammer the message home that they don't have an automatic place in the team, actions speak louder than words. I just don't see it happening, I hope I'm wrong.

I won't believe it unless Deacon is completely dropped against Wakefield, not even on the bench. If Mac means it Deacon and Langers will be the drop-outs from 19.

If he doesn't make the team in the first place then there's no point in having him on the bench either. But like you I can't see him being dropped

Didn't he say that at the start of the season, sorry but he hasn't done it yet I'd even go so far to say that when people have been performing when others have been injured, they lose that place immediately when the other person is fit again.

I guess you could argue that platt has moved positions but that's not exactly dropping him, sometimes I think he's singled out unfairly and there's more who deserve an enforced rest.

I like Macca, but he is making himself sound stupid by repeating this mantra, or saying he would drop players if there were ones to replace them. Apart from Platt/Halley scapegoats he is yet to show any gonads whatsoever.

Yeah, so he'd drop players if he had players to replace them with. However, when asked at the start of the year "are you happy with the squad depth" his answer was a resounding yes. Can't have it both ways

He could have said something like, I'm not completely happy but I think we can work with what we've got and we'll definitely be looking if a player with the qualities we are looking for becomes available.

I think we`d all worked that out when Greg Bird was signed. I`m pretty sure the players would also have got the message.

Jimmy Lowes is in charge of the Wire side because Tony Smith is off with England.

Macca isn't going, Kris Radlinski has gone over with Tony Smith. However McNamara is still the assistant coach I believe.

So I guess that means Jimmy Lowes is incharge of Wire for that game then?

Yes, as pointed out on the previous page. Three players out in total though: Morley and Westwood for Wire and Burgess for Bulls.

Unless they back up like quite a few players did last yr.

The game last year was a Friday which made it much easier to back up.

And the difference between the two sides on the scoresheet was?

The fact we were given kickable conversions and penalties (with one or two exceptions) and we have a player who can kick them. If he could do anything other than kick goals, it would be great. Sadly, in his current form, he can't. Sykes would have got at least 6 of the 8 I reckon.

The fact that we scored our tries under (nice one Beaver) or close to the sticks, and we were awarded three easily-kickable penalties.

In answer:
a. The bulls were a better side and scored more tries + penalties.
b. The placement of the tries and penalties gave superior positional
opportunity for their convertion to further points.

Whilst I was never a goal kicked of significant note, and am now slightly overage for even senior rugby, and had a knee reconstruction 10 years ago, I still feel that I could have hobbled to make at least 6 of Deacon's simple conversions

Sykes would have kicked most of them anyway, and would have cut out the mistakes in Deacon's in game kicking. Although it was an improvement, Deacon's performance wasn't up to the standard we need.
