Goes along with all these sponsors being announced. I’d heard we’d actually maxed out all the standard areas for placing sponsors, which hasn’t happened in recent years. This additional squad spending we’ve been doing looks like pure sponsor income.

Well done to the club for finally getting something out in time for Christmas.

I’ve been told by someone who has seen the kit that is full of sponsor logos. Same person said that the club badge is placed in the centre of the shirt (similar to 2019) which is a big no no from me.

Guess I’ll wait and see what it looks like before passing final judgement. Training gear looks good this year.

Worst home kit in a long long time. Since some of the Kooga desigs (maybe even worse than those!). An absolute shocker.

First reaction was that this will break the home shirt streak from '97. But the more I look at it the more I think it's not that bad.

It's good it's loaded with sponsors as it shows the club have actually been busy.... and I guess some of us wanted a break with tradition... sooooo

It's not great. Too much red. But it could be worse. I've not bought a shirt since 2012 so I'm not really the target market.

I went up this morning and bought 2, the thing is the sizing is way out from previous Steeden shirts and the shop is recommending trying them on. Mine is a 5XL last seasons was a 2XL, so beware.

5XL? Blimey Marvin have you been on the Ant Walker diet?

Well, it's not the best is it? Not sure what the process is for selecting a shirt design but it's definitely not my taste.

Well it’s not my cup of tea so I will wait to see the away shirt but at least the splatting of all those sponsors hopefully mean 1) we have been busy and 2) business want to be involved with us.

You can’t please everyone and I’m sure enough will like it to shift it in decent numbers.

Away is black with a yellow/red V but got a pattern in the V like the home shirt. Bit like a Catalan Jersey.

Yep, no matter the design..it won't be for everyone. Although you'd hope to please the majority, which doesn't seem to be the case with the comments I've seen. Not long to wait for away shirt reveal, hopefully that'll be better.

Hmm interesting. I do like a black kit in general. Could be the away shirt sells better than the home shirt which would be ironic considering we were generally more entertaining to watch away from home last season.

Maybe they are trying to tell us something…

The shirts seem to be quite complementary. Everyone will like one of them I think. Also, the home shirt looked more appealing in person rather than the social media pictures of it

I saw on the Widnes Facebook that JK has said his new signings have brought a real hunger to his squad… so you might have some further catching up to do now anyway.

Bongser’s metabolism has slowed down drastically in late middle age and he does not like cold weather. He attended Leigh’s first game of last season but his existing colours were buried under numerous layers of clothing so he then bought a 5XL shirt that would, just about, fit over his outer coat - relative warmth with colours on display. Maybe Ant Walker also feels the cold?

There now follows a cautionary tale for anyone considering adopting this approach. Bongser knocked off work early for an evening match early last season. He had a couple of scoops in The Egerton Arms in Salford during which consumption he donned his outer shirt. This necessitated his mate, Oirish Mick, freeing Bongser’s coat hood and pulling the shirt down at the back. Arriving home after the match, Bongser found that Natalie (aka “la jeunesse Mme de Bongseur”) had already turned in. It took forty minutes of self-wrestling (no, not that sort) for Bongser to squirm out of the shirt!!



Bongser will attend our opening match against Salford wearing a 5XL 2022 shirt!
