| From his recent absence do you think it's a done deal with another club he is going?
Would we be better with 2 or 3 quality players in exchange instead of one world beater?
Seems like Warrington have a couple going, maybe a newlove style deal on the cards?

| Do we need that much more quality to play in the Championship. Maybe we buy the quality in at the end of the regular season and just enhance what we have.

| Would be a good idea to have a team together for a full season and gel?
I don't think shipping players in last minute works.
Unless it's Jonathan Thurston or Sam Burgess..

Yeah, perhaps we've left him out so he's 100% for his pre season with Wire.
Or maybe bruised kidneys are something we need to be careful that he's fully recovered from before he plays again. Depending on how things are progressing with his impending arrival his focus isn't going to be solely on RL right now either.

| Almost cutting your nose of to spite your face? Why risk not going up even if he is leaving. If we were playing pre season friendlies and he was on his way i could understand not playing him

| I'm sure Gaskell isn't playing because he isn't 100%.
Having said that,Jimmy does seem the type to throw the teddy out and drop somebody from the squad if he found out they were leaving. I'm hoping Gaskell stays true to his word as reported in the T&A and sees out the remainder of his contract.

I thought he looked like he was putting weight on. The last thing we need is his waters breaking in a tight finish.

No they said he was hoping to be fit not that he was fit. His injury I was told was likened to a serve car crash injury.

| Whisper it quietly, but the potential is there - if Gaskell and Mullaney are passed fit for Saturday - that we might actually be able to name our strongest possible 17 for what I think could be the first time this season?
When you stop and think about the constant disruption and injuries we have had to our 1, 6 and 7 this season it's quite an achievement that we are where we are right now.

| Question is, do you play our best 17 or leave out a few like Mullaney/Fergie who seem to pick up injuries? I can't see too many being left out but I don't see much point risking a key player like Mullaney unnecessarily.

| Well Jimmy's philosophy up until now has always been to play his strongest side available. I wouldn't expect him to change tact now.

As a parent of five children, I find it very strange that it has become acceptable that top sportsmen seem to be now able to take as much time off from their job on the off chance that their wife / partner might just happen to give birth at the worst moment. From my experience, babies can come anytime within a two to three week window. Why not name him in the squad and if she happens to go into labour at 2.00 pm on Saturday, then fair enough.
If he's injured, that's one thing - but leaving him out of a 19 man squad because his wife's waters might break on Saturday afternoon is a poor excuse IMO.
Am I being unsympathetic?

Who knows, but if she hasn't it's not something she'd appreciate being in the public domain. Sounds like he has trained all week though which is encouraging on the injury front. As others have said, I wouldn't be totally shocked to see him play on Sat.

Possibly but more likely jumping to conclusions unless you've seen it stated by somewhere credible that he's not playing for the above reasons.

I don't know if Ross from the T&A is 'credible', but he said something last week to the effect that 'Gaskell might not play anyway (even if fit) against Leigh due to the impending birth of his child'

Well I can't recall the tweet but would it not just mean his baby was due round about that date so he could well be missing for personal reasons.
Gaskell is in the 19 anyway now.
