| With Massive Heed (Obst) gone, and Ferguson gone, looks like Wakey are shipping out "talent" at an alarming rate. Whilst I completely feel for the WTW club & fans and desperately don't want to see them fold, are there any of there remaining players we'd take a punt on ?
(whilst there might appear to contradictions in the above, they need to ship (sell) players to have ANY hope of surviving)

| The only one I'd look at would be Aaron Murphy. Whilst you can't doubt the class, and professionalism of blokes like Morrison, we have too many suitable youngsters like Addy and Donaldson just outside the starting 13 for an older player to jump in front of them.

| IF (and that's an IF) we don't have anyone lined up or in mind for the quota spot, Morro on a one year deal wouldn't be a disaster.

Agreed.
Other than him, I wouldn't want any of their squad. Aaron Murphy is massively overrated IMO, and the likes of Blaymire, Millard and George wouldn't improve on our current options. The only one I'd even want to consider is maybe Josh Veivers as he's still very young, or the other lad from Wigan (Howarth), but even then I'm going on reputation rather than what I've seen from them myself.
Kevin Penny on the other hand is possibly the most overrated player in the league and is lucky to still be employed by a Super League team. He'd be better off joining a sprint team where you don't have to do anything but run.

| I was impressed with Paul Johnson when we played them in the friendly. He is a very BIG lad, ran hard, but as with a lot of the Wakey team IMO looked to be carrying a bit too much weight. He's young for a prop though and I think very much a work in progress.

Actually yes, I'd forgotten about him. He did look good and looked good in the friendly against us too. Definite potential.
Potter will be in the perfect place to judge though as Johnson was in Saints' academy when Potter was there.

Keiran Hyde. Played Stand Off for them on Saturday. Don't think he's better than what we already have.

| didn't realise Ferguson had gone. Another top signing by Hudds. I thought on Saturday they could almost field an England international back line of the future. Got to feel for Wakey though. Getting set up for a few years in the NL. In answer to the OP - Richard Harris.

Could be just what they need though. Seems to me they've finally got their heads screwed on with regards to what needs to happen to secure the club's future, rather than just looking at the short term of doing well in the league this year. If they manage to get a ground sorted out, I wouldn't be surprised to see them back next time the licenses come up, and on a much more secure financial footing than they have been in recent times.

Agreed. If they are going to move out of the city they should share, it's bonkers wanting a new ground to themselves in their predicament.

Only one I'd seriously consider. but that would depend how serious langleys injury is. If langley is only out for a couple of weeks then I'd give addy/donaldson a go, and keep the quota spot free for someone more longterm as morro has already said he plans to retire after this year. would be a great quick fix but we need to give our young lads a chance too.

Agree, I was just saying that he's the only player I'd probably consider from Wakey and on a one year deal at best.

| Looking at your squad the only position you look like you could need cover for is prop. So maybe Paul Johnson if you were going to go young and longer term or Paul King if you wanted an experienced squad fix for the rest of the season. King was wakeys most consistant prop last season and seems to have sorted himself out.

Could be ideal really if what I've heard about Langley is true. Going in for surgery this week apparently.

Yeah, you do have to feel for Wakey.
It may be just me, and I understand there will be some interest in this kind of thing, but this thread is a bit like relatives picking over the deceased's possessions. Back in 63/64 when the old Northern club went bust, and according to the then chairman "didn't own so much as a bootlace", the Wakefield club (amongst others) were one of those who, far from picking over the players we had (fair enough, there might not have been any they actually fancied) actually [igave us[/i some of [itheir[/i players to set us up again.
Different times and different ways. Sad really.

To be fair, I don't think anyone is saying we WOULD go for these players, or saying we should. Simply "if we were going to", which players would be worth signing? I for one was taking it that way, and in no way do I actually want us to go and raid the players Wakefield still have.
