Deacon probally will be in the starting 17, I just dont think he should be with regards to Semi, he pulled up with the same thing as he did at murryfield and dont think that the the problem has cleared up in 5 days.

Come on Macca, you have to drop Deacon this week!! he was awful and struggled getting up every time he was tackled. He has clearly become a target.

given that semi looks likely to miss out through injury then one of deacs/platt is going to have at least be on bench and I cant see point of having deacon on the bench. at least platt covers a few positions, even if we dont use him like in the leeds game.

Do you think Deacon recognises the problems he's having with his game and could he make the decision to drop himself. He's obviously highly thought of within the club so his opinion must count and as captain surely one eye must be on what's best for the side.

Yep but there must be some responsibility on the players to say if they aren't fit and Deacon isn't handling the physical side of the game at the moment.

He's been poor for a while, but i've not rated him for at least two seasons now.

But if you can see that (speculation though it is), then surely the coaches that see him day in day out should do too. If he ain't cut out for it, he should be nowhere near the side, and if he ain't picked then the above scenario is un-neccessary.

It depend on how intensive the contact is in training. I'm guessing the physical contact during a game is harder and until they are in that situation you can't really judge if they can cope, so i can understand not being able to pick up on that during training but when week after week he's been targeted and most weeks is staggering about after one or more tackles I'd hope they'd be able to pick up on that.

following the craven happy happy joy joy article yesterday, now Im being told to turn up and get behind the lads.

I have done, I will do, I am Friday... but the team needs to show up too Mr McNamara.

He should have followed my suggestion on the club offical reading thread and offered free away travel to the game on Friday to try and bump up the away support and give something back to thoughs of us that do follow the team week in week out no matter the ineptitude or brilliance on display.

As an aside, is there anyone who might normally have gone on Friday but has been put off by our home performances of late? Or are there any fans that might not have normally gone but are going to go as this is when the team need more backing rather than less? Or does it not matter and actually attendance or lack of it (at away games in particular) is more down to money getting tighter and/or other factors?

I'm not sure how many people would own up to that, because they'd then probably get dogs abuse from others on here.

I'm out in Manchester tomorrow night and plan to go to the game, at the moment I wouldn't make the trip especially though, the product doesn't warrant it - I don't think the team need more backing rather than less either, they are good enough to beat Saints and Leeds, but are seemingly happy to toss it off most of the time, for that I'd say they deserve contempt rather than more support because it is inexcusable.
