Wasn't sure which thread to go in. How much central funding do we get for 3rd place in championship? Something like £150k? Slightly more?
The Salford discussion is rumbling on and naturally Bradford has been mentioned...both for historical issues and current ones.
It's just I'm trying to get a handle on the finances at the moment.
So most recent accounts (we were a subtenant) have us at Championship level sponsorship + ticketing + corporate + merchandise + central funding of about £150k = A part-time first team spend of £5-600k? + an academy + other costs and we make a tiny profit.
So, we don't know the impact of taking on the lease on the equation above. But overall negative, unless other income streams are available!
If we were offered a Super league place in the future - the main changes would be central funding of £150k would become £1.5m? Is that what SL clubs get? We could probably boost the first team spent to £1.5m with that, with some left over for additional costs.
Have we actually succeeded in cutting our cloth and becoming lean, with no excessive expenditure?
If anything it increases the advantageous position of current SL clubs, but no surprise there. Really we need expansion to be in with a chance of getting into the top flight again.
Well judging by Salfords current plight and having emergency auditors go in, I don't think it's too far fetched an idea of this happening. When you look at the numbers, the idea this stadium deal is going to be the silver bullet is just dreaming. Fact is though they don't lose any IMG points still and actually aren't far off a grade A which just makes the whole IMG process a sham.
