Fair comment. However, there has been a fair bit of talk about the first trading years accounts (2017) of late, and the £500,000 loss contained therein. Ive absolutely no inside information, but others have suggested that this loss was mainly down to settling the court case brought by players and staff for unpaid redundancy/holiday pay, owed by the previous management. Im not going into the whys and wherefores of the new owners being responsible for the old owners mismanagement, as thats above my pay grade, but the staff were plainly entitled to press for someone to pay what they were owed.
This payment appeared at the time to have not been budgeted for (which is hardly surprising) and the general opinion seems to have been that somebody covered it. My guess has always been that is was Sir Graham Lowe.
I don't know anything about his personal finances but its doubtful we would just chuck half a million into the pot without expecting some, if not all of it back. Two years down the line we are suddenly selling a young player for £100k, and despite some good cup draws, we appear to be not exactly flush with cash. Maybe its gone towards repaying our benefactor?
