Sides under the cosh in games tend to give up more penalties, not square or back the ten predominantly, but sometimes desperate tackles which 'go wrong'. I've not checked the stats but I'd guess the teams at the top concede fewest and the teams at the bottom the most. Very often for fans it's just a matter of accepting which is cause and which is effect.
