Theres a couple who in the last year or so have started standing by us and they chain smoke continually from the moment they get there to the moment they leave.

I've stood where I do for over 20 seasons, enjoy the banter with the people who have also stood there for as long if not longer, why should we be the ones to move?

I'm all for live and let live, but some of the comments on here have gone beyond idiotic. Are the smokers on here really so selfish? I have no issue with smoking, and smoked for a long time, but no longer do, but I would hope I was never as rude or ignorant about where I chose to smoke as some on here appear to be. What about a bit of consideration for others?

I stand corrected and well and truly admonished . My apologies . It shows the need for checking out research properly , I guess . I asked the question on internet in a biased way tbh and had plenty of figures saying what I wanted to hear . However , after your reply I checked from a more neutral basis and the facts do speak for themselves . Approx cost to NHS £ 2bn versus approx tax generated from cig taxes £ 10 bn . Not even close . Sorry . At least it was a fellow Cas fan that corrected me i suppose that's some consolation

Is it just smoking cigs on the terraces that people have an issue with? It's just this season I can't get through one half without a blast of crystal meth!

I have no problem with people smoking. If they want to wreck their lungs and stink like seven shades of Hades then so be it.

What I do have a problem with is anti-social smokers and unfortunately since the hefty in-roads into making it more difficult to smoke in public places there seems to be a direct correlation in the rise of anti-social smokers.

I don't think it takes too much intelligence or basic human manners to accept that if you're doing something that affects people around you in a negative way then you take care about how you're doing it.

I for one would support a total ban in all sporting arenas. I would hazard a guess that the majority of smokers would suddenly find they could suddenly last 95 minutes of a rugby match without a fag
