Agreed. He was very inconsistent. There were times when players were getting penalised for holding down after hardly any time, yet others where they'd lay on for ages and get nothing. Then Ah Van was penalised early doors for not playing the ball properly, and one of our subs later got away with a blatant one, far worse than Ah Van's (he used the ball to get up). Forget who it was, but he'd not been on long at the time. It's one thing to be strict on rules or lenient on others (and that's not necessarily the referee's fault, as he's probably working on a directive), but inconsistency is when fans start to get really wound up.
Also think had that been a league game, Morrison would have been in the sin bin for holding back Ainscough in the first half. About as clear a professional foul as you can get, but I suspect the cards are used more rarely during trial games. Saying that, apparently Ray Cashmere was sent off for dissent in the Salford match.
