Well i for one am more than happy that they have decided to take it back to the Millenium. I agree the dates at the beginning of Feb does semm strange as it will still be very cold (summer rugby and all that) even inside the stadium with the roof closed. But we have booked an etap in newport for £50 for two nights and its 35 mins by car to Cardiff. People I know did not bother with edinburgh but are looking forward to the event going back to Cardiff. Also i preferred the derbys format rather than a random game.

Cheaper, better city, close to city centre, great stadium and not in Wales.

However, season start with derbies at home venues should have been a no brainer. It's not rocket science.

I do agree with you, but the RFL have this idea firmly planted inside them that taking games the opening games to Cardiff in deep darkest Febuary is the in the best nature of the game.

Not sure if I'm going or not. I've been the last couple of years with the wife but Cardiff isn't the same kind of draw as Edinburgh for someone, like my wife, who isn't an out an out RL nut. We've gone to the games on the day the Bulls were playing and spent the time going round the tourist spots in the city on the 'spare' day but Cardiff doesn't really cut it as a visitor attraction to be fair, so if I go, it will be on my own and only for a single day rather than the weekend.

I'll probably be going myself, depends on what travel arrangements the club come up with. If there is a trip run, like a normal away match, which leaves after the game then I will, but otherwise, probably not. It's in Feb so definitely not doing a weeklend/overnight as previously.
