Quote ="Ewwenorfolk"Kearney, Scruton, Langley & L'Estrange are way above average.
Our young players like Whitehead and Donaldson have the potential to be way above average too.
I know I shouldn't be biting, but how can you comment when you have Ian "Mr. Average" Kirke in your squad ?'"
Perhaps they can comment given that "Mr Average" is likely on a lower scale salary and continually does a job when asked, hence his Grand Final winners rings. Anyone who shows the commitment to catch an "international" Paul Sykes from behind given 15 metres to make up is doing something right mentally and physically. I'm sure he doesn't purport to be Sam Thaiday.
With reference to the topic title, Mathers would be a great addition to the squad and is arguably on a par with Kearney and critically, is English. Far, far superior to the outstandingly average Halley, Sykes and Reardon who have all masqueraded around as fake fullbacks for far too long. That "tread water" Halley continues to think he is a full back in a mystery that even the cast of Scooby Doo couldn't solve.
