Quote ="Adeybull"Prize money goes to players anyway as I understand?
Net receipts from playoffs go into pot to be shared out for the prize fund IIRC?
Odsal costs a shedload to open for a game, and since playoff games on TV anyway unlikely to get huge crowds. And anyway, had we made 8th its still away games all the way.
So no, can't see any significant direct financial loss to be honest unless any major sponsorship is linked to finishing position.
The bigger impact is the combination of <10k attendances and <8th place. If that becomes the average for 2008,2009 and 2010 then that's three franchise points dropped and only one (salary cap breach) gained.
Unless they move the goalposts again, of course...'"
I think that is the biggest area where there is a possibility of loss. There may not be any direct loss as such but the lack of exposure in the play-offs does, to some extent, devalue the various rights which are sold around the stadium from advertising to catering and this may be reflected in the amounts they receive in future.
