There is a good chance of a big diversion for many fans who will be travelling from Bradford to the Galpharm on Sunday. It is right in the middle of Huddersfield and quite close to the railway station and it is a diversion which could take anything up to an hour to get through or past.




It is a visit to the Rugby League Heritage Centre which is located in the basement of the George Hotel. In there you will find a large collection of rugby league history and memorabilia: digitised century old photographs, trophys, programmes, shirts, boots, badges and banners. There are also four plasma screen TVs showing games pre war and quite recent from both this country and Australia.

On sale are a decent sized collection of DVDs, magazines, books and novels and it is a place that all genuine rugby league fans should visit at least once in their life as it is where the game was born in 1895.

On Sunday on show there will also be the honour caps and international shirts worn by Trevor Foster, the 1947, 48 and 49 Wembley medals belonging to Ernest Ward plus his army medals and Nigel Stephenson's 1979, 1980 and 1981 Bradford Northern shirts and twelve medals he won during his career.

And to cap it all, admission is now free; it's free to get in, free to get out and it's free to ask Sam the manager any question you want about the history of the greatest game. It will also be free to talk to Stevo. Unfortunately he will have to leave early as he has to go to work.

Opening hours are from 11 until to 6 p.m.

I've had quite enough of "diversions" after last weekend, so I don't think I'll go to this game now..... =white(Yes, I am jesting)
