Quote ="Roofaldo"You've missed my point completely. The problem isn't the overseas players. It's the lack of young english players of a quality to mean the signing of these overseas players becomes unnessasary. If we had the players coming through the ranks in decent numbers we wouldn't even require quotas as it's likely overseas players would start to be come a novelty in the league instead of the norm'"
Yeah, exactly because the quota limit is so high the English clubs dont seem it nessasary to develop their players in high numbers because they can get a lad in in that's already developed, because they don't have to wait for him then. Like I said, reduce our quota and get large numbers of our kids through and ready for Super League, thiswill then in turn benefit our national teams. Youve only got to look at ours amongst other clubs over reliance of overseas players in recent years as opposed to young British kids to see why we are not getting large numbers of quality Brits to choose from when it's time for international selection. This is because instead of developing into quality players in first grade they have been stalling in the reserves in favour of a overseas lad. We've got to reduce it to fit so our teams are forced to develop their own kids. Otherwise nothing will ever change.
