Before I get told that I could have done this via PM, and I accept that this is the case, my counter argument is that I publicly slated the guy in question and I feel that it is only fair that my apology is done publicly also.

Last week I got caught up in a bit of a silly thread that annoyed me due to the fact that there were a few people queueing up to have a pop at me for something that was mis-interpreted. As the arguments and criticisms came back and forth I had a dig at the aforementioned Mod that was fuelled from a wee bit of anger at the time and, TBF, it went a bit OTT. It is fair to say that there had been an issue in the past but it HAD been resolved and, as such, I apologise for publicly slating him on here.

I accept that Moderation is a hard and generally thankless task, I have done it before and know the kind of crap that people have to take for no real reason and it is unfair of me to have said what I said about Mr BP.

Therefore, I hope he accepts my apology.

After giving you some flak on said thread, it would be churlish to say anything other than that you have gone up a number of notches in my estimation. We don't have to agree or even like each other's viewpoint (you might be surprised about some of mine - I'm just guarded about what I air in public) for the board to be an interesting, thought-provoking place, but I think mutual respect is necessary, other than in the case of egregious trolls.

At the risk of pushing things too far, I'll take the chance of repeating my belief that a lot of the ill-feeling between you and Adey may also be based on a misunderstanding. Go on - while you're in the mood

The crucial limitation of interacting with people only online, especially when you have not met that person in the flesh, is that you can only react and respond to what you see in front of you on the screen. Isn't it?

And if what you see in front of you frustrates you intensely, and the only medium for response is more of the same, then it can soon get out of hand. As ME has acknowledged to BP, and as I am happy to acknowledge on my own account. I'm sure the others with whom ME has had issues with would echo that?

And if the virtual personality is rather different to the real personality (as has been alluded to on another thread) then it becomes that much harder again to keep things fully civilised?

No substitute for face-to-face personal interaction, is there*? Something its all too easy to lose sight of on here, and indeed across the virtual world generally.

* and if there is food and cups of tea involved...so much the better - as anyone who knows me will attest to!
