The Tomkins apology and the club fine are clearly an attempt to divert any ban. Fact is if this was done on a rainy night in widnes it wouldn't have attracted much comment, fact is it happened on national TV where the Challenge Cup final is an institution watched by a none RL audience as well as the die hards, its for this reason he has to face a ban as this will be the only thing that will sting him and his club - it's totally unnacceptable and he/Wigan should pay the price.

He made a big mistake on Saturday, but he's 22 and gave it back to a set of fans that gave him a hard time when he played for England. He's been punished, end of the non story.

The sad thing is that many fans will be happy if he is pushed to Rugby Union, and only because of their sad club "loyalties". He is the most talented player this country has produced since Shaun Edwards, but incredibly some some "fans" want him out of the game.
