So what you are saying is that when HKR play dire and the goons, you are going to have a cricket score against you as you got pasted by a team who are "way off" the aforementioned teams.

I don't think Shenton was the problem at all. I think Gaskell was. He's our newbie halfback.

Welham is a very good player but it's too early to say whether he is England standard. Is he in the Knights? He possibly should be if he isn't. He was the best player in your team last night.

That would be why we almost beat Wigan at Cardiff without a first choice halfback partnership and our fullback going off injured, to be replaced by a 20 year old, I suppose. Wigan are beatable and if you're elevating them at this time then you have no clue.
We are nowhere near Warrington at present, no. But that's not an insult to me. So you will need to try a bit harder, especially given that your team has failed to win much in the match department so far this season.

First of all i dont need to try harder at anything, i gave an opinion just as you have given yours, or am i mistaken and your 12 years old and have no concept of debate.
Welham is in the full England train on squad and deservedly so, i think he has 7 tries in 8 rounds and his overall performances are good and consistant.
You may not like the idea that your deadly rivals are a better team and squad then you but in my opinion they are.
And if your judging on one off games like your draw in round one then does that make Harlequins better then you are they beat you this season.
Im fully aware that Rovers havent won many matches, ive attended each and every one of them.

Fair enough. We'll see how things pan out as the season progresses. They look nothing special to me this season; fairly average with the odd exception. Warrington, on the other hand, look a class act.

I'm judging Wigan on what I've seen of them since the season started. Hence my opinion above.

Shenton's defence was terrific, it was Gaskell that got caught out on that side a few times. Obviously his inexperience is a significant reason for poor positioning at times.
As for the debate about whether we're near Wigan or Warrington's standard at the moment, possibly not (although I'm sure we'd have a good chance against a poor Wigan at the moment), but you don't win trophies in April. I'd say we're slowly improving each game and will no doubt improve further when Wilkin and Pryce play regularly behind a strong pack and Lomax continues to develop at 7. I'm happy with where we are, but we will probably come short again in terms of trophies in my honest opinion. We'll certianly be competitive though and we're not light years away.

Id agree with that and with the quality in your squad you will be there or there abouts.
I just think Wire and Pies have raised the bar.
Very impressed by Lomax also and the more game time your youngsters get the better they will be in the seasons ahead.

I think they have more than caught up as they have now passed us while we still in rebuilding phase.
Full credit Is due to saints over last 2/3 years as we've remained in the hunt while rebuilding.
Your correct, saints raised the bar and set the standard for every super league club in the super league era.
With the addition of few good quality players and the current young squad I think it won't be long before we overtake Wigan and Warrington.
IMO Wigan don't look half the team they was last year so far this year.

That's exactly what I meant. The peak of that was 2006. No-one else has yet managed a 2006 of their own. Until they do, we were the ones to set the standard, no matter where our current team is in the league or what it is like.

I agree. Warrington have been the ones to shine so far this season.
I'm happy with the way our play is developing so far. We are looking more expansive, even if it is early days yet. I'll be more than happy if we are playing in the style of Wests Tigers by the back end of the season.

Shenton was the guy with "No 3, Shenton" on his shirt. Defending one in from Gaskell, who was marking Welham and later Webster in the centre channel. I suggest you take your glasses next time
And, I'm sorry Briscoe got injured, but there was absolutely no foul play in Lomax's jump for the ball - its just one of those things.

I wouldn't say we're way off - we're only 1 point above them and it's a long season. They could well still finish above us.

| Stop crying Hull KR fans. You should be more concerned at the fact your squad is full of overseas rubbish. Had Hull KR give youth a chance regulary then you might of had a replacement for Briscoe in your reserves.
Poor way of taking defeat.

To be fair, some of your fans have created a rod for your own backs with their boasts of away support numbers. A few years back a HKR fan got very het up walking out of Knowsley Road when a mate of mine did not think that you'd brought much more than 1000 if that.
On the Lomax/Briscoe collision, I thought they both went up to win the ball and collided mid air. No problem with the pen as they tend to get given, but didn't think he actually tackled him in mid air.

I also didn't think the penalty given against Gaskell for similar was right either, I thought he timed it well to hit him as he landed.

| Winding up Hull KR fans aside.
Saints will struggle to get many away fans with Friday night kick offs end of.
Widnes joining the SL will help next year, but any team travelling further than Manchester it's a 50/50 call if you leave work at 5 get home to see the kids and then hop on the Motorway. You can't get the family groups to attend. I understand it's better for the locals from a Saints point of view. In the end if Saints can grow their own fans then rightly they do not need to consider the away fans. It's more telling that those teams who need the away fans tend to run more of their games on a Sat/Sun.

If all those 1000 fans bought their tickets from HKR that is £18000 minus the £1800 Rovers got for selling the tickets it would mean You get £16,200 out of Hull KR coming over. I don't doubt you'd rather a game against Warrington, Wigan and possibly Widnes because they will bring more over on a Friday night. But the fact still remains St Helens are probably yet to bring more than 500 away fans to Craven Park.

If it was the game I think you meant it was our first visit to Knowsley Rd in years in 2007? 42-14 to you guys and I think Dyer scored one for us but cant remember exactly.
I think our away support is in bigger numbers than at least 8 other SL teams, I believe chairmen accross the league look forward to the teams with bigger than average away support coming. If Saints were to bring 10% of their home support (from the Knowsley Rd days) to Craven Park as we often have to your ground Rovers may actually get their much needed 10k attendance figures.
