Yeah he was actually pretty quick for his size. I remember him steam rolling on to it for panthers and rooster and it was literally like watching skittles and a bowling ball. He needs to forget about trying to put good stints in and just go for it because that what he is effective at.

I'm surprised the roosters let him go and the panthers granted him a early release then. Also, with the amount of money they throwing about in the NRL and no team took him?
I watched him last year and was greatly impressed. He played well in the Samoa v NZ game in the World Cup which I went but most of his runs came off kick off returns.

| Fingers crossed Beaumont can
A. Get fit as soon as possible.
B. Be the sort of grafting prop we need.
If you look at Wigan they have strong running back rows which take some pressure off the props. Therefore i wouldn't bother playing some players at second row imo e.g. Wilkin and Flanagan. We need Manu, Soliola, Savelio and Greenwood as our back rowers.
As for props, Amor, Walmsley, Masoe and then hopefully Beaumont are good enough to do the job imo. Until then i think Richards is good enough to do a job but we shouldn't overuse him. Ideally, Clough is pretty much what we need - can we get him back?
Then for hooker, we need to spell Roby obviously. Not sure who with, it seemed to me Tilley was playing dummy half against Widnes? Didn't see the game so can't comment. If Flanagan has played there before then could try him as I don't see his use in second row.
Lock imo, should be a well rounded forward. Wilkin is too lightweight, as is Flash, players like Charnock are too playmaker esque and i am not a fan of playing an extra prop there, especially when that is already an issue. So i think the answer is Jones and he has really proved himself in the last few weeks.
That leaves the pack looking something like
Amor
Roby
Walmsley
Manu
Soliola
Jones
Flanagan/Tilley/Fozard
Beaumont/Richards/Laffranchi/Masoe (2 of)
Savelio/Greenwood

I think he had a lot of personal problems at the Rooster, poor trainer, they change the culture and to make room for SBW. He was immense at points last season for panthers so il be honest not sure why they let him go but a lot of fans wanted him to sign for their club last year and was surprised at him coming to super league. He put in a lot of performances on par with the samoa one last year for the panthers.

My thoughts are similar to. We can argue over the type of lock player. But we have to many big name, low impact players in the pack currently.

Not depressed at all. I expected it. I predicted 3 losses on the bounce.
The likes of Perry got bagged off big time on here and this big fat waste of space is no better.

Not sure about your last paragraph and the reference to Wilkin being too lightweight. S Oloughlin is just over half a stone heavier than him but Wilkin is well over a stone heavier than J Jones so that sounds a bit contradictory.
Like you I prefer to have a ball player at loose forward rather than another prop. I agree that JW is too lightweight for second row but with his new ball handling skills I think loose forward could be his ideal role. I am no fan of JW & if I was picking the team he may make the bench but as with Wellens, Nathan Brown seems to want him in the team & if that is the case then I don't see him in any other role than the loose forward.

Stats mean FA!
I've been watching him and how he's getting awarded 20 + tackles per week is a joke! He's not done a one on one tackle yet. He's 2nd and 3rd man every time.
My heart is into mouth every time a player runs at him as he's so slow and out of shape.
He might make 8/9m per carry but in fairly sure he was brought here to bust tackles. He can't break out of a paper bag. Every team has handled him with ease. He's so flat taking the ball as he can't have a run up because he'd be knackered before he got the ball.
He constantly turns his back on the attack when getting back into the defensive line.

Hardly what I said. Criticise masoe all you like, it doesn't alter the fact he's not even in the same bracket at perry for useless waste of spaces.

We had a scrum on Leeds line with about ten mins to go, obviously we are losing, we couldn't pack the scrum down because Mose was still walking back.
When they do a kick chase, he can't take the drive in to get us out of our 20m ( I call that the hard yards) because he's still walking back from the kick. The play actually comes to him!
He seems to spend more time and effort conserving his energy so he can last 15 mins than he does playing.
It's honestly pretty poor for such a big big guy to be tackled so easy. Take Good Friday for example. Eddy pettyborne come on to the ball like a train on his first taste of the Wigan v saints derby. He was full of passion, aggression, heart and then Mose comes walking up and virtually stopped in his tracks.
As he made a tackle bust yet ?

| i dont think i've ever seen Mose attract less than 3 tacklers, sometimes up to 5! He's not likely to break many tackles with that many on him, but the result is the opposition line is weak
