| I thought he looked a bit lacking in confidence against Warrington, a bit as he looked at the outset of his time playing for the first team. Ideally, he would be given a break now to take the pressure off him and for him to regroup. But we don't have an ideal situation and so hopefully he will find his feet again, learn whatever he needed to from the recent losses, and help the team through to a win on Friday. A win would do us the world of good, especially if it was a convincing win. We certainly [ineed[/i a win!

| I don't buy the lacking in confidence against Warrington. He had his kick charged down by a good run from monaghan and he threw 1 lazy ball behind the team as i recall.
To me that is not a lack of confidence it's just good pressure from Monaghan and a lapse of concentration and experience on Gaskells part to watch out for the runner.
It was an obvious error/bad luck but this has been picked up as a sign of lack of confidence. He still ran at the Wire line, he still managed to run around the ball after passing to create the extra man at times.
He may need a rest, he could probably do with some rotation but the basics are we have no one to rotate him with other than Wilkin, but with Soliola out the pack covering shenton, LMS on leave this week and Pryce and Wheeler still another 2/3/4 weeks away there is little choice. I know Eastmond is there but he is obviously not showing enough in matches or training to bump Gaskell out. Royce in not one of us, he is not going to pick a side based on anything other than that which he thinks will provide the best result.
He is not in the Lomaskell camp or the eastmond camp or leon will save us camp. He is in the camp of I want to win and have a good performance from the side.

He dropped the ball twice. He hasn't dropped it once since the start of the season.

So he's only dropped it twice all season? I'm very happy with that from a rookie halfback

Rookies are also known to lose confidence.

| Leave the lad alone
He is very inexperienced and due to our lack of depth in squad and injury levels he has been thrown right in at the deep end. In previous seasons when we had a better squad he would have been integrated gradually or maybe even loaned out to another team to get experience.
All in all I am absolutely delighted with his performances and his attitude seems to be pretty much spot on as far as i can see. We need to get behind our young players and accept that they are not the finished article and will make mistakes.

Here here, absolutely right I couldn't agree with you more.
And as for the kick charge down didn't a certain Wilkin do the same against Cas I think it was who went near the length of the field! I rest my case.
Lomaskell is the future in my book!

| Lomaskell is the future until Hohaia turns up and demands to play half back as he's been promised. Hohaia has been pathetic at fullback in the NRL recently by all accounts so the dream of him being the answer at fullback doesn't seem to be alive.
I reckon he could be a big mistake IMO.

| Hohaia has been dreadful under the bomb in the NRL of recent weeks so I would prefer to see him at half back. He cost the warriors a tight game last week with 2 meli-esque mistakes under little or no pressure. Re-sign Pryce and put him at full back please Eamonn.

Preston Campbell played at fullback very well and he is a midget.

Tomkins is full back behind a very dominant defence always pushing forward so half the time teams kick on the back foot.
Lomax has been excellent for us at half back and I for one think he should stay there.
If we ever get Leon back I thought last season some of his best games were at full back coming into the line with that long stride thats the way I'd go.
And I also agree with the earlier poster that Lance could be a mistake or at least cause more problems than he solves.

He's the same height as Slater and Lockyer as well as being taller than Minichiello.

Height wouldn't be a problem. He's more or less same height of some top quality fullbacks.
One things for sure, if lomax does move to fullback, if anyone makes a break it will be a try because he defence at times is shocking.

Lomax's defense seems okay to me. The only tackles he misses are mismatches with big men. He handled Tomkins well in the derby.
