It depends on who they bring in, Bailey and Diskin are no brainers really, they aren't that old.
They may have a few problems in a year or two when they have to make wholesale changes though.

Well, it is if the only thing you live for is the Sky competition. However, if you take a more complete view what do you see? Ok. You see:
One Grand Final win and three Grand Final losses = Grand Finalists four times on the trot. If we get there again, we equal the Superleague record, I believe, with Bradford.
Seven Challenge Cup wins (and however disparaging you are about that cup, no-one in the Championship leagues or even the lower echelons of the Superleague has won it for quite some time, so what you say about it is bollox)
Four (or is it five?) hubcaps.
One World Club Championship
A season in which we won everything going, including individual, coach and team awards (plus man of steel on three other occasions)
I think that makes us more successful than Leeds. But you carry on viewing rugby league through the narrow focus of the Sky media machine if that makes you happy.

Still bitter about Leeds being more successful than you in recent years? Or aren't you deluded as you seem and come to terms with it?

We have still done well over the past few seasons even without taking home the super leage trophy, but lets face it, if there's one trophy you want to win above all others, its that one.
Leeds will bemoan their lack of success in the cup, but I'm sure they wouldn't swap it for their GF winnings.

| Quote ="Sam Buca"Totally agree. Thats why many will see the 2012 as a transition period. Alot of the OOC players at the end of 2011 (and there is quite a few) could well leave. It all depends on what Brian McDermott & Hetherington sees fit - are they willing to replace them all at once and wait to gel the team during 2012 and push on in 2013 or will they just start replacing them year by year (which should've been started at the end of this year)
.'"
Watkins being injured has probably meant Senior has played more in the centres as was planned. I also think the club expected Amor and Coady to progress quicker than they have. I would've liked the club to have replaced Donald with Broughton as well. There seems to be some talent in the under 18s though so lets see how they progress.

I wanted us to win it last year, but only because I was sick of going to the theatre of queens and losing. But other than that I personally don't put more emphasis on the Grand Final as I do on the Challenge Cup or the hubcap, which is probably why I consider Saints to have been the most successful team in the last six years rather than Leeds. If you make the Grand Final cup your only measure of success then I guess as a Saints fan you'll be pretty depressed! However, to me silverware is silverware and it's all of equal value so I have taken much joy in the pots we have stacked on our shelves over the last six years and because there are so many of them, plus the very fact that we are four times Grand Finalists, I consider us to be the more successful team. We might not continue to be but up to now we have been. In Superleague, in fact, not just the last six years. 2006 alone makes us stand out.

i'll bet you were love
your obvious disregard to winning the sl trophy and that it actually means anything, as all trophies are equal is duly noted
me wonders if a soon to be retired sl legend like kc agrees with your lunacy?
surely kc never fancied winning the last 3 gf's then? and obviously treats them just as lightly as you clearly do?
maybe you could also ask longy, another sl legend his opinions on this matter?
afterall i'm sure that he often dream't of being a 3 times loser in sl gf's and could thus bow out in such a dissapointing way?
anyway "saintsfan" i must appologise from diverting your attention from that ever increasing ironing pile

| Is their Era over? No, they will just be Like saints. They will lose a few players, but the ones they bring in will play at the same level, in the main, as those they are replacing. They wont do a bradford or wigan, in that they struggle to replace the players they lose with similar quality for what ever reason. WIgan though, has to be said, toiled and toiled until they finally got it right and escaped the cycle of mediocrity. Bradford, whilst still stuck there, do have a glimmer of hope in Potter, who at least has a clue. Will it be enough to get out of mediocrity and return to the big time? Who knows.
Leeds will be up there for a while.

Quite easily. They have. I just don't suffer from tunnel vision like some RL fans do. They've bought into the Sky hype hook, line and sinker.

Why oh dear? I don't view the Grand Final trophy as any more or less of an achievement than the Challenge Cup. I also think the hubcap is an achievement worthy of celebration.
Different perspective on success, that's all. If you're happy measuring success solely on the basis of the number of Grand Finals a team has won then you can't have gotten a great deal of pleasure from Saints' success over the years!

I regard each season to have different criteria for success, the last two years we've barely spent on new players and have concentrated on building up the youth, in that respect 2nd in the league, Grand Finalists and CC semi finalists is a pretty successful year. I don't expect us to be Champions each year, but in all honesty I expect us to be at least competing, which we have done for the last decade or so. If I were to choose which trophy to concentrate on, it would be the league rather than the Challenge Cup. I get more joy out of being crowned League Champions than I do as Challenge Cup winners.
In regard to the league, the winners of the Grand Final are the team that are crowned Champions, that is all that matters. I enjoy every trophy we win, though I would not go overboard about the hubcap as it means little if you aren't then crowned Champions.
However, I would not regard the Challenge Cup winners to have had as successful a season as the League Champions, I think you're pretty much on your own there if you think they have.
