your right in many respects, Leeds and saints both lost troops early in the contest, but the difference is Leeds openend cas up enough times to win the game but made far too many unforced errors! saints were never in the game really were they? tanseys binning was a 50/50 call and got you back in the game for 10 mins. the gidley try made ali's against the crusaders look like a dead cert. I think saints will be there or there abouts still but hull battered you for a good hour. Leeds were guilty of over playing. Saints looked like they had forgotten how to play.

Your not gonna get a top level coach at this point in the season and it's not worth rushing in and getting a no mark in.

You should be looking at the likes of Kearney for next season as he'll get your players motivated.

The last thing you want is for your new coach 2 come in now and have 2 work wonders with a poorly conditioned and low on confidence team. New coaches need a full pre season 2 make the changes happen

I agree. We need someone that is going to demand the respect of the players. People like Meninga, Fairleigh or even Sculthorpe although he lacks coaching experience. You get the idea though, someone that the players are going to respect and work for because, IMO, they don't seem to want to play for Potter, but i put that down to his poor tactics.

This is a ludicrous thread. Whether Potter turns out to be able to deliver us a final appearance this year or not, it's just silly and complete idiocy to reach some of the conclusions in this thread after just one game of the campaign.

Which followed how many similar ones from the last campaign ...?

I prefer to view the offseason as an opportunity for the coach to plan, adjust, prepare, develop, bring through more youngsters etc., players and our gameplan and expect that's what they would do. Therefore I think it's more sensible and rational to use a period of time greater than one game on which to base my assessment. You cannot ignore the fact that we are talking about the first game of the season.

Why some of you have decided to overlook the offseason and reach your conclusion after one game? I'm not interested in hearing you say "I'm basing my assessment on what happened last year and that's enough for me". I want to know why people are forgetting about the offseason and have reached their decision after one game.

For me it's a similar situation as Bradford are in (albeit Potter took us to second last year which is hardly a failing) but if I was a Bulls supporter I'd be giving McNamara more than game to prove himself given he's had some offseason to work with and new players.
