I hope the game plan is to put lots of pressure on Matty Smith and target the energy levels of Shirley, if we can control these two then we control the game on our terms.
We started OK against Cas with our defence so a repeat is needed on Friday, our attacking game will look after itself if we manage to complete our sets.
My expectation is that our pack have unfinished business and will be up for this one.

I could make a very good team out of the players who missed Sundays game.
Bowen, Manfredi, Bateman, Thornley, Burgess, Green, Hampshire, Crosby, McIlorum, Dudson, Pettybourne, Clubb, O'Loughlin.

That as a starting XIII would match most sides in Superleague. If you then added Taylor, Flower, Farrell and Smith as bench players it would a very good side.

Hopefully we'll get a few of those back for Friday, but if not we'll go with what we've got available and we won't be beat for lack of effort.

Saints have never had injuries ever, not like Wigan's injuries. Wigan's injuries are special. Whatever injuries anyone else have ever had, Wigan have more and bigger.

Haha I've just been thinking that. At times this season our injuries have been into double figures and we were told to get on with it and stop complaining. Now these lot have injuries they are drawing up fantasy line-ups from their array of absent "stars." Typical blinkered behaviour from our neighbours.

Didn,t we have a similar injury crisis in our home game with an in form Leeds and beat them with kids. Goons can still be a very dangerous side whatever team they put out so that needs to be the mindset, setting the marker down in the first 10 mins will be the major factor in this game.

Wigan had more than enough on the field to beat Wakefield. Looking at the highlights they uncharacteristically conceded some real soft tries, despite Rogues bull. Saints beat Leeds at home with a similar injury list.

And we beat leeds at the Etihad when they was in the middle of their hot streak, still doesn't take away we have a massive disadvantage and if you don't win (depending on who back) would be considered as a massive failure

Of course they are an excuse. If we were missing as many as Wigan probably will, we'd get beat by 30 minimum, and our first comment would be about how many players we were missing. The second comment would probably be about a lack of effort.

This is a derby and whoever the big APE puts out the 17 players will be up for it, So yes we have a bit of an advantage with our squad but Wigan will be no pushovers. If anything they have more to prove so could be a harder game?

Our pack needs to step up massively from Sunday's performance, they were really quite poor IMO, especially around the ruck in defence.

Wane saying he might be giving a couple debuts, squad later on should be interesting.

I'd like to think so. I honestly feel Friday could be make or break for certain players and even Brown himself. McManus can't possibly accept another gutless derby performance.

I think you have this wrong - it would be a massive failure if Wigan don't win this after shouting about how good their strength in depth is with only a handful of senior players out on each team and home advantage too - Wigan should win this at a canter - and well if they don't will be shown up in front of the Sky cameras.

If I'm honest: I am dreading this game. Another embarrassment would be so hard to take.
