Alternatively, Saints aren't commercially astute to recognise an opportunity to make money.

Saints are definitely commercially astute. It's just that we made our money out of 75-0 stuff rather than beating Wire, but for probably similar reasons. In the 1980s/90s no-one would have believed we would have ever beaten Wigan 75-0. It was well worth celebrating when it happened and Saints didn't just sell t-shirts with it on but mugs and stickers and the like.

It actually makes you almost glad we lost.

I didn't give two hoots about the record at KR.I am not overlay fussed that we have finally beat you. Ijust see as two points lost ,two points gained.

We are not the only team actually. Wigan did it first and then Oldham and now us. So it is an exclusive club, granted, but not exclusive to us alone.

When have we lost 4 grand finals in a row? I can recall losing 3 but even that wasn't in successive years. We've only lost 3 grand finals so how can we lose 4?

Yes, pre-Superleague. I can't remember the exact dates but I learned about this little club when watching the Championship Grand Finals last season when Oldham lost their fourth on the bounce. It was then that it was mentioned. Wigan lost four on the bounce at some point, but it was decades ago (possibly pre-second world war but again, I can't remember), and then Oldham did it last season and then of course we did it too.

It was actually 5 we lost, 2 of them to Oldham. Rogues had just retired then

You should have been around when we (Wigan) had the likes of jinkin Jimmy, rocket Ronnie, Terry Hollingsworth, Billy Williams, Billy Melling, Dave Walsh etc.

Well, I did say Super League and not 'the league,' right? They were talking about claim to fames, and I'm pretty sure 'We're the only team to win the super league 5 times' would count? Plus, I only started watching rugby league in 2001 (when I was 11), so it's no real surprise that my knowledge before super league is close to naught.

I suppose it does count, if you want to completely discount 100 years of history.

We may have lost 4 in a row, but at least we made it there to lose them.
