he's a good signing. it has been said by gould and co(phil gould aussie coaching legend) that backrow is maybe his best position. not the best hands but strong in defence and with the ball, not lighting fast but mobile for a big unit and young.

I suspect Gidley will retire at the end of this year. He will then have had 3 years in the UK

Soliola might play on Talaus centre but doesnt mean he cant play on Gidleys, nor does it mean Wheeler cant ether.

Quota players at the minute (i think) are:

Phelps - Could stay or go

Fed Trained

But then there is Richards and Feka, not sure about them but i think they come under the loophole introduced about being here before the quota changed. Not sure though.

I don't watch the NRL, or any international RL from down under. I can't afford Sultana and work normally when the games are on.

As the quota is down to 5 in 2011, I'd expect us to do 1 of 3 things.
1. Sack of Meli, and replace within the club or british winger. Thus leaving room for mr J.Lyon and A.N.Other Prop.
2.Replace Roger with another import and get Lyon on other centre.
3.As above but A.N.Other Prop.

I much prefer option 1, but only time will tell if our academy players step up into which positions.

I won't be surprised if he eventually ends up in the second row, when the likes of Flannery go home. He's probably a better second rower than a centre.

I dont like the current idea of putting big centres into the 2nd row. If he is a centre, play him there.

He's adaptable, like a big gilly.

I'm just judging by where the Roosters tend to play him, if he was better at centre they would be playing him there.

It all depends on how things develop. If Foster/Dean become good players and we sign Lyon, it would probably be the best thing to do.

Wigan have a young centre named Ian Thornley who plays at academy / reserves level.
He is big and very fast, I jut hope he doesn't get moved into the pack.

Good signing by Saints, but I imagine he'll be on a fair bit of money.

From what i've seen he looks a good player. How fast is he?
