| I'm not sure if it's the fact Kyle is leaving for Union that is the issue for alot of Saints fans... I think it's more his attitude of late that has turned them against him (or at least reduced their respect for him).
I don't dislike any player for trying to better their career, of course it's a great loss for rugby league - but there will be more, and no doubt better, Kyle Eastmonds.

| Quote ="St pete"Graham has earned the respect of the fans but that shouldn't effect the way we treat him. He's done the same thing Kyle has done and not yet come out and said he wants to stay.
To say he's earned his rite to leave and join Wigan IMO is weird but I've known weirder.
On another note, I respect any decision they both make, if Kyle can make a better life for himself by going to union then I wish him all the best. He's here to make a living and same goes for jammer but to boo one player and cheer the other is weird but I've known weirder.'"
I agree with you.
I would go further than you: why should we be saying that its fine for our captain to be non-committal to staying with us - even though he is no doubt be one of our top earners?
If he shows no loyalty to us, how can he expect loyalty to him?
I think he owes the club more than vice versa. The only difference is that he is handling himself with a bit more dignity than eastmond.
Also, going to the NRL somehow makes everything OK because he isn't going to the goons or dire? How twisted is that?
Remember gary connelly how he was treated AFTER he went. The same would happen to jammer regardless of what people may say now..

Loyalty from whom? The players? There isn't a man at the club who wouldn't take Graham into the trenches with him. If you mean the fans then maybe it's a good thing for the club to go through an extended period of mediocrity if it purges the terraces of glory-hunting "supporters" who, in a heartbeat, will turn on one of the finest servants St. Helens has seen in its history. Please, feel free to boo Jammer if he does decide to leave. Do it nice and loud in a the busiest part of the stand.

Connolly, like Eastmond, promised more than he'd achieved when he left the club. A better comparison would be Millward, who, because of his genius, results, relationship with the fans and comedy antics, is still widely loved by St. Helens supporters.

I agree, they have both done/doing sane thing so treat jammer in the same way you treat eastmond.
The seems to be little vendetta against Kyle and everyone is jumping on the band wagon with the campaign of hate but he's done nothing different than jammer.
In fact jammer has kissed the badge and spoke of his love of saints yet this love for the club ain't made him sign a new deal.
IMO it's a strange and twisted hate campaign towards Kyle but some weird love for our capatain, leader, best player who loves the club, kissed the badge but has spoke to a number of NRL clubs but won't sign.

Spot on. It began with *ding* round two of Kyle Loves Himself when he instructed his agent to go to the press about how he wants to play for a Union team right up to *ding* round fifty five of Kyle Loves Himself when he was interviewed by Granada Reports about how he will give Saints 100% until he goes to The Bigger Sport.

Firstly, I've never booed either of them and take exception that you imply that I have.
Secondly, I mean loyalty to the club that brought him through the ranks. loyalty goes two way you know?
Thirdly I am a massive fan of Jammer who is undoubtely one of the best props in the world. I still fail to see how why he should get special dispensation.
Fourthly. Your comparison is not valid - Millward did not leave on his own accord though greed. Connelly, Eastmond did and possibly Jammer might.

| I'm a realist, so if people get a better offer, because of money or oppotunity, I can accept that. I can even swallow a young star being poached off us after we'd created the player before he shows a decent retun, that's life and the system that yeilded him will give us plenty more in the future.
What I cannot stand is the attitide he's shown in interveiws since he signed, betlittling the establishment that made him and are due to be paying his wages for the next 6 months, playing half hearted, which he seems to be doing, taking little care not to crate a media circus which will obviously disrupt the squad and then (allegedly) giving rude gestures to the crowd when they take exception to the above.
If Kyle had talked to other clubs descreatly (which initially I think he did), then released a statement saying he was leaving thank's to a great oppotunity, then went about his business like we've seen him do in the past (and indeed show some of the form that has won him the union contact), then come the end of the season I'd wish him well. What's happened in the last few weeks though has made him appear to be completely disrepectful of the club that's made him, as well as the supporters and team members.
And do you know what? Despite his skills, I don't think Martin Johnson wants a 5ft4" winger playing for england, especially one who'll cry his eyes out when ever some one steps on him in a ruck. I'm sure he'll have plenty of success in club RU, but I hope he likes standing round on cold January nights when he'll only get the ball 3 times a game.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Kyle.

| Talking to a player this morning at local u12s game and he told me that eastmond made a money gesture to crowd to imply he's going for very good money.
IMO that's not acceptable by a player and if true should be dealt with!

He's acting like a litle kid! (if true but can't see a player saying it if not true)
To be honest I don't blame him or any other player going for better money as they need to make as much as possible as they only have aprox 10yrs playing but to rub it in the face of the fans who pay to watch him that pays his wages is not acceptable and should be dealt with.

exactly mate, most sensible fans would have wish him all the best if he'd said originally he was going, but then put his all into saints and when interviewed, just given every reply as " I'm a saints player, thats all im concentrating on now"

When Bobby Goulding hit his destructive period at Saints, aparently one player, lets call him Dandy Gorthey, gave him a good hiding. Maybe that's what the squad should do.

| I was at the game
Kyle did stick a finger up to the crowd at one point, this was during the game
Ade had a go at him for it I think.
Id definitely join the bring KC back campaign.
If he had come on in the second half the whole game could have changed.
Scully reckons hes in the best condition of his life, any chance he fancies it as well.
Lets get Longy back from Hull while we are at it.
I said in another thread about the quins game. There just doesnt look like theres any leadership.
I think Wilkin needs to stand up and be counted. He is a great player not used to his potential in my opinion.
The Leeds game will be interesting.
They definitely cant play any worse

That's IF, I'm not asking for it. He's got plenty of time to pull things round.
Oh, and "Best condition of his life"? Well, not getting the bashed out of you every week in SL probably helps.

| I'd not back bringing in two ex players with zero coaching experience and who would probably suffer the same 'too close to the players' issues that Simmons is probably having.

Agree entirely. We should be looking at the best coaches in RL, not cobbling together some tag team of players who've never coached at any decent level.
Hopefully Royce proves himself to be a good coach and all this is just an early season blip.

What we SHOULD be doing and what we're CAPABLE of doing are two entirely different things. My guess is that if McManus had the money to purchase the services of an uber-coach he'd have got one. Which means, at least for the time being until we're in the new stadium, we're dipping into the bargain bucket.

Uber-coaches don't come to SL, assistant coaches who haven't been offered a full time role or sacked NRL coaches do.
I imagine McManus saw Simmons as the best available option given his position as Oz assistant. I'm not sure that his salary had as much to do with it as you might think.
