Well, you have just said you trust the coaches to keep an eye on the junior players so that suggests you have no idea yourself who might be looking good for the wing spot.

Reading through some previous posts though you could have a valid point!

They certainly don't.
For instance, I would suggest that while Meli isn't as skilled as many of the mentioned wingers at taking kicks, the fact that he is so dangerous once he's got the ball is enough to put the opposition off from kicking the ball to him. If we were able to field a more effective winger on the other side of the pitch, perhaps Meli's error count would go up as more kicks would go to him.

I'm actually surprised by the lack of errors from Meli, shown on those stats.

I do think it's a case of Meli making mistakes when he's in isolation or under the high ball.

Camera is focused on him and it just sticks in the memory more than say 10 or 12 knock on's with the line begging, from say a Ryan Hall.

Stats do bear out that he is not as costly as we would think, it's just the exposure of his mistakes seams more intense than others.

Top stats though can't really argue with them!!

You stupid woomaaan, Foster had his chances and more than proved his inadequacies and he had to go.
Makinson has also had his chances and has failed to impress either coaching staff or spectators, no way should he be considered before Gardner. Gaskell has had his chances only to prove he is not of the player for a Saints team.
What you must realise that these players are not children they are in fact grown men and should be able to show their talents regarding their actual first team experience. History has proven that great players show their greatness at an early age.

The back 3, including the now unfashionable Wello we're all very good.

Wello ran the ball back well once or twice, but him being fullback put heaps of pressure on us. There were a few instances of where he was turned round by their excellent kicking game and it took an age for him to get back. The one where he threw a horror pass to Meli after taking too long to get back to the ball was a farce.

Would that be the pass behind the sticks that Meli dropped?

It was but you can't blame Meli for that, it was a dreadful pass from Wellens that Meli did well to ground in goal under pressure in the end.

The only cock up Meli did last night was when he slid on the ball 5 yards out and ended up in goal. Although it was pretty funny as everyone around me just thought 'typical Meli'.

I did for get about the suicide pass, but on the whole he played well on a difficult night.
His lack of pace in the attacking line didn't really come up. Although it looked to me like Charnovk was taking up the fullback position in attack.

If you try and pin blame on Meli for that then you have passed the border into complete idiocy. Wello threw a pass in dire conditions that hit the floor before it went to meli. Now a rugby ball bounces strange at the best of times but in snow it is impossible. Meli did well to ground it under pressure and not concede more than a drop out. Wello's reaction with himself shows who was at fault! If the pass had gone to Meli not to the floor and he'd have dropped it you may have had a case

Meli scored a try and made a good tackle.

Sia was the best player for Saints IMO and Jones did a good job too.

I'd say Manu was our best player last night, I thought Soliola was pretty quiet.

It wasn't an insult, the comment was if you blame Meli for it when it clearly wasn't his fault, not you are. Do you genuinely blame Meli for that incident yesterday?

Meli played well yesterday and has all year. In fact he has looked much more comfortable and in much better form for the last 12 or so months. He may have the odd brain fart but his contribution to the team can not be doubted or under estimated

In truth, the blame was shared equally between the two of them although I could see what Wello had in mind - there was a massive space on that side of the field. But that Meli dropped the ball is nothing new. He does it quite a bit. Everyone around me came out with the ritual 'bloody hell Meli' when he did it.

On the Radio Sia came across quite well, sounded like he was aiming up in defense. I think in one set of 6 he made nearly every tackle.
