| Quote ="Mugwump"Come on guys. I can buy this being one of the better Saints packs of the past 20 years. But if you think the problems we're experiencing from 1 - 7 are solely down to "bad coaching" you're losing your marbles.
There's some serious overestimates of ability going on here.'"
I agree.
We've not got a leader in the team for starters and some of our players are a tad reticent in the tackling and taking the ball up departments too. We also have no guile in the team and no thinkers.

I like this pack. It doesn't have the big names of previous years. But it doesn't have a lot of the dead wood we've carried either. Good skills across the board. Aggressive. Maybe short of one player with electric pace and a bit of leadership. But it's impossible to have everything.
It's easy to romanticise previous teams. But I can remember big names turning in some pretty ordinary performances. Indeed, under Millward you were never entirely sure which Saints pack would turn up.
The gold standard is Anderson's first year.

| Quote ="Blobbynator"I can't argue with that. I've said in a previous thread I'm hoping Brown instills a more ruthless attitude amongst the players. Good coaches get that extra 10-15% out of players and that could be the difference between winning and losing the big games.
Whilst I think Brown would like one or 2 new faces to come in, he certainly has alot to work with, especially with the young talent at the club.'"

Bloody hell. And he's going to be our coach?
I noticed on the BBC red button show Brown said that some of his team had refused to play on the i-pitch. Looks like they will get their way as well.

What a lot of sloppy mush! Putting an arm around him, giving him some love and care. The lad isn't ill or injured, he's just entirely lacking in common sense!
And the implication by Brown is that Saints didn't offer him support. Except that it was well documented last season that Saints did offer him support. Whether Moore wanted to take it or not was up to him. He's supposed to be a grown up after all and they are all his choices to make.
Is Brown going to turn our team into a load of softies?

They're already a team full of softies. We gave a new contract to Gary Wheeler and will no doubt give one to Paul Wellens as well.
Brown at least can see the quality Moore has.

You call it sloppy mush, I call it man management.
A good coach knows which players need a kick up the backside and which players need a arm around them.

Everyone can see what quality Moore has, including Saints. They would have sacked him otherwise. The problem is that Moore is immature. That's obvious on the pitch and off it. What mature person would tweet about his indiscretions as Moore has done? What mature person would indulge in those indiscretions, knowing full well it could cost him his career? And if what Brown suggests is the solution - taking him away from his mates in this area - why then did his first public indiscretion take place while at Hudds?

He had one problem at hudds which is nothing. He rang in sick but had been out and hungover.
Hudds wanted to keep him but he wanted to stay at saints, I've known Moore since he first came down brook and can be easily distracted.
His last year at saints he was in trouble more times than just the main one he's famous for and saints said enough is enough.
He needs to change his ways or he will be on the rugby league scrap heap

Hudds didn't think it was nothing. They dropped him and started to favour Lunt instead. He never looked the same at Hudds after that.
Quote He needs to change his ways or he will be on the rugby league scrap heap'"
And that is entirely his decision. He's a grown up. He isn't a child. He makes his own decisions. Given that he has had support previously, at Hudds (presumably, although he was dropped) and at Saints, and possibly even at Widnes to start with, he is showing all the signs of not growing up in his head. Pandering to him or soft soaping him isn't going to make him mature. That can only come from within himself.

Never once did I suggest that's what we need. Our pack is soft other than sia.
To suggest its one of our best pack in the last 20 years makes me think you must stevie wonder.
It could possibly be the weakest we've had in super league. No aggression. No tackle breakers. None with genuine speed.

It's like that with most young lads.
If I'm out with work mates then it's a quite night and few beers but if you have night out with your proper mates then it's messy.
By him being away from them cuts the chances of a blow out down.
Moore is someone that needs a arm round him and not a just a telling off and left to his own devices.

Monie didn't turn Jason Robinson around; Jason Robinson turned himself around. I've heard his story. He may have looked up to Monie but the decision to make changes belonged to Jason Robinson. Now if Moore looks up to Brown then maybe he will take any advice given but unless Moore becomes wise to himself, learns from his mistakes and chooses to turn things around for himself, Brown can spend a lifetime giving advice and hugging him and it won't make a jot of difference to Moore's behaviour or attitude.

Is he not grown up now? He's certainly taken on responsibility anyway, what with marriage and children and a proper job. He lives for rugby league. If you've read his book then you'll know just how vital the sport is to him.

But my point is that Robinson wanted that. He was looking for something and found it. Moore clearly does not want that. He wants his booze and friends and fun. Until or unless Moore himself wants to change, all the hugs in the world won't make a jot of difference.

Jason Robinson says he owes his life and career to inga, he says inga took him under his wing and showed him how to live his life.
