Seems pretty simple to me why Saints fans are pleased with attendances, because they are rising, and because they are rising when a lot of other clubs are for whatever reason seeing a decline or not much of an increase. I don't think you will find many Saints fans who won't agree that in the past our attendances have been poor, but thats why we are happy at the fact that they are rising at last and we are getting decent attendances now and hopefully that will continue.

Fairplay, they are going up and thats great for the game but I cannot help but think they should be alot higher as you are the best team our game has to offer. It is a slight let down for someone who maybe does not watch RL to turn on sky sports and see saints playing and have heard of them because they are currently the best team in the sport and decide to watch it but then see emptiness all around the stadium, it does not look good. Saints attendances are still poor because of how good the team is, but I accept I cannot argue with the FACT they are going up.

Actually, Knowsley Road doesn't ever look empty on TV, except at the away end (when often it IS empty!). It always looks fuller on TV than it usually is in reality. It will be harder to disguise any bare patches if/when we finally get our new stadium.

I think our lowest attendance this season was at the last match, wasn't it? We only got about 8,500 for that. I don't think we had an attendance of less than 9000 before Friday during this season.

the state of the stadium is to blame for that, rising attendances in a recession should always be celebrated.

How is it the state of the stadium? Nothing wrong with it, proper rugby ground that can create a fantastic atmosphere.

well as hull and warrington managed to increase their attendance by around 50% when they moved to a new stadium, it seems an older stadium deters, or a new stadium attracts fans.

Hull also went on to win the challenge cup and go to old trafford becoming one of the best teams in the league over a few years at the same time.

Warrington struggled before a new stadium came but now you could not have super league without them, they have improved on the field also.

Saints cannot get any better really. The stadium will take the average up a few thousand maybe, but mainly due to the fact that more away fans will travel.

It took ages for Wigans attendances to go up after the sale of Central Park.

As will more home fans.

I am not sure, if saints are the top team now and still getting around 10-11,000 then I cannot see why moving stadium would see a huge increase. Although over a couple of years maybe 13,-14,000 is not too unrealistic.

What is the current away allocation for KR and what will it be for the new stadium?

Saints fans always moan and say the JJB has no atmosphere and is lifeless. What do you think it will be like at your new ground?

However, your point on home fans, I refer you back to an earlier post I made.

Some people have to get 3 (yes 3!) buses from their local stop to Saints. People also moan about the parking. They moan even before they get there.

Saints' studied this at great length prior to the 08 season. The made strides to kill such apathy, but as it is, KR just isn't an enticing prospect to spend all day fannying about to get to.

The new stadium will invigorate the town's interest.

I actually doubt there will be that big of an increase in away fans. Yourselves and Wire will travel well, what ever. The Hull clubs enjoy a chance to scrap between themselves in another town. The only sides I can actually bothering to travel to Saints any better are Leeds.

Aye, but not at Central Park, the same will happen to Saints. You'll be playing in a place that will never feel quite like 'home'.

I think the difference for us will be we know we need this, and I would hazard any one not wanting to move is bordering on the next appointment in God's waiting room.

There weren't that many though as we asked about one for Elizabeth (just in case we deceided to take her to any matches) and they had none left. That was only a couple of weeks after the announcement.

That is a good point. For various reasons Wigan fans didn't take to the JJB immediately, and there is plenty of resentment there now due to recent actions by Whelan, however clubs like Warrington have fully embraced their move to a new stadium, and I'm sure Saints would be the same.

And seeing as the Attendance "Stats" are nearly 2500 under what they actually are I would get some facts right before having a go at Wigan!!!!!!!!!!!
