I would rather have him than Laffranchi (and Tony Clubb for that matter), we should not let the short term issues the club has cloud long term goals. He is a good player that would add a lot, if we could sign him as well as a stand off and a couple of props that would be good.

As usual the question is the transfer fee. I do not see why the club is again them. For example, if Laffranchi is on £120k pa and Whitehead is on £100 pa but we keep him for 10 years then surely he is worth a 200k transfer fee given that he is a better player.

But Laffranchi was signed to play prop. He needs to be replaced with a prop. Whitehead is good, but signing him would mean not being able to sign someone else. Given that we need strengthening in at least three other positions it would be crazy to spend cap money on a position where we already have a selection of quality established players and up and coming youngsters.

Whitehead got 4 years left on is bulls deal so the want about 75 grand for him which we wouldnt pay a transfer fee he end up at Huddersfield

He is a bigger man than Laffranchi and will probably play at prop later in his career. Having said that we are rumoured to be resigning Flanagan and are after Tony Club who are both not as good as Whitehead. We are also rumoured to be resigning Wellens who has player as a second rower this year as well.

In the end only the people at the club know how much players are on and how many players we can afford. If by signing Whitehead we could not afford a prop then, I agree, it would not be a good idea but I doubt that is the case.

I read somewhere that Whitehead has missed the most tackles in Superleague this season.

We are desperate for props and he seems like a decent prospect from what i have seen, wouldnt rule it out but you never know.

Most likely he will be going to the "top 4" club Salford, but wouldnt rule our FC and Wire playing a part.

Spoke to the owner of the Bulls tonight (really nice fella) and i brought up Whitehead's name. He wasn't exactly complimentary about his tackling. Saints don't need a forward who can't tackle.

He is playing in a poor team im not going to deny that, but he cant tackle for the size of him and hes a big lad, he just falls off players far to easy, whereas donaldson who isnt as big can tackle with the best of them.
