I knew in July that Brown wanted to go home and I also know the real family issues to why he's gone home. The wests job fell at the right time for him.
Brown will be remembered for laying the foundations of a good quality squad abd doing the double.
Royce will be remembered for his woeful recruitment, shocking team selections, only having 3 players on the bench, winning nothing and getting sacked.

Indeed. Good job all those contracts came to an end when they did and that the chairman finally agreed to money being available for new players! But then we'd built the stadium by 2012 so the club's attention and resources could finally be refocused on to the pitch by 2013.

If you say so. Me and many other fans will remember him for 42 point drubbings and being very fortunate to have been around when the club started spending money on players again.

What recruitment? He wasn't allowed to recruit anyone. He signed Flanagan (thanks for your efforts in the GF at 7 Flanno!) and Hohaia (thanks for your efforts in getting us to the GF Lance!) but other than that he had to rely on young players. He asked for props and was told no. The club was focusing on funding the stadium at the time.
I don't remember shocking team selections. That's been a Brown speciality.
I'm glad Brown has gone. Our performances in 2013 persuaded me not to bother renewing my season ticket for 2014. Now that he's gone I may consider getting another season ticket for 2015 but I may wait and see how the new coach pans out, especially if it is Cunningham who IMO is very inexperienced to become head coach.

I PM people on here about Brown going my little flower
Royce brought in a Backrow to replace jammer which was a complete and utter disaster of a signing. He brought in a fullback to play 6 and he's only just got to grips with playing 6 this year under Brown. I said at the time that Royce will set us back years and he did.

No! Most fans wont remember individual games from this season. What they will remember is finishing top of the league and winning the Grand Final against the Pies.

Quality loyal supporter arnt you?'"
I'm a very loyal supporter since in spite of my reservations about Brown and not actually wanting him at the club in the first place - something I was open about on here and have been consistent about - I have gone to every home game and any away games that I have been able to afford in spite of long spells of unemployment during the last two years. So stuff your questioning of my loyalty up where the sun don't shine.
And no, winning the LLS didn't convince me. Jeez, when even Wello said that it was the first time he'd won it from his living room then that really doesn't convince anyone does it! Yes, we won it. Thank you Tigers.
I was convinced in the Grand Final that I had been right all along: that our problems as a team stemmed from our attitude. Get our attitude right and we can be excellent, even without halfbacks. Again, I have consistently said that on here and I have taken stick for it from the likes of you. But it turned out I was right. While you might be happy in forgetting the previous two years of inconsistency, embarrassing performances and sometimes nutty selections, I cannot do so.
I'm happy he has taken himself back off to Australia. Phew! Hopefully Cunningham will be a step up but only time will tell.

The well documented replacement for James Graham was Anthony Laffrinchi. Squad numbers has nothing to do with it at all.

I also had an issue with that.
I thought it stunk personally (probably a bit like a butt plug would after use) and knew then that regardless of the GF result, it was very poor timing and thought then he should just go regardless of getting the job or not.

The complete disaster of a signing laffranchi was brought in to play prop to replace Jammer.

He was called Anthony Laffranchi by the way. And he came with a reputation having played SOO and for Australia. Latterly he had played at prop.
I'm glad we let go of that ace recruit by Brown who went by the name of Ghostmont. At least Laffranchi got on to the pitch and was a consumate professional at all times never giving anything less than his best even if the Aussies got it wrong by playing him at prop (and thus giving us the impression that he would have impact there).

I'm not gonna get involved in this argument - both Brown and Simmons had their merits. But:
A) Laffranchi joined in the 2012 season, not 2011 ( www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/rugbyl ... anchi.html )
And b) you cannot suggest when comparing signings that Laffranchi and ghostmont are put in the same bracket?!? I'd be amazed if ghostmont was on 1/10 of boofs salary. A closer comparison would be Amor (whose still probably on 75% boofs salary) and Laffranchi - who represents value for money?

I wasn't talking about salary. I was talking about quality of signing, since the clear implication in the post I was replying to was that only Simmons could have recruited badly. Well, so did Brown. So did Potter with bloody Josh Perry. There are duds and there are diamonds and then there are average joes.

There was a suggestion that he was signed in 2011. This was not the case.
Brown was by far and a way the best recruiter. In a capped sport you can't discuss quality of signing without discussing value for money - in which Brown walks it. Yes, Perry, arguably Laffranchi and ghostmont were "duds" but in terms of value for money, ghostmonts signing had precisely no impact on the rest of the squad and as a result put him ahead of the others who were on big salaries.
Anyway, a much more interesting conversation is who is KC signing

No more suggestions that Brown was sacked, comments which could be seen as libel are against the AUP.
The fact of the matter is he had to go home because of a family illness. How would you like it if a family illness required you to leave your job and people then started spreading rumours that you had been sacked? You wouldn't so keep your conspiracy theories to yourself please, any more will be.

| I truly can't believe some people are so petty that they can't accept being wrong and instead start to spout things about he was always going.
He was here for 3 years. Unforeseen circumstances meant he had to go home this year. This was already agreed. Then a job pops up at home and he applies. Well so would everyone else. Does not stop the fact he was already going anyway. He does not get the job, then his dad lets it slip a week before the GF. Saints can either deny or admit it or keep quiet. The only option is to be open as anything else would be a disaster.
I'm sure Brown would have preferred to have stayed, failing that he would have preferred to have left only announcing it after the GF. The club did well to keep it as quiet as they did for as long as they did.
But Jess you can't deny the man got results. His recruitment was top notch.
His bringing through of youth has been excellent, so we were inconsistent, so was every other team in the league. And they were a damn sight more inconstant than us.
Brown is the most successful Saints coach in years yet some don't like him because he's not their cup of tea. Well whoop de do.
Get over yourselves. I did not like Potter, but I could see where he was trying to go and you support the team, the coach and the club. Go ask your favourite players next time you go to a forum what they thought of him and I'm pretty sure you will get a positive response, but that will still not change people with a closed mind.
