I stand by my suggestion that it was removed as a cost saving measure. It's clearly possible as there are stadiums almost identical to ours which do have cladding, I've been to Rotherham's and that is spookily similar to ours and is fully clad. Saints now can't afford to add it and so are trying to persuade someone else to do it for them.

If it was taken off as a cost cutting measure then the design should have no problems holding the cladding when it is put back on????

There is a whole debate on flags from fans causing too much wind resistance because of the design.

That's my point, the excuse about wind resistance is just that, an excuse to kick it into the long grass.

They are clearly doing that. But then I'm not convinced that Saints/McManus are particularly concerned with maximising fans' match day experience really. I rather think we are all supposed to be doffing our caps and humbly giving thanks regardless.

Yea he's been crap for Saints.

McManus has been the best thing to happen to saints in a long time. Without him we wouldn't have a club.

However, the running of the club at times is shocking.

Exactly. He's been fantastic for us, leading us into a far more positive future than we could have dreamed about just a few years ago.

But he's not a super hero, whoever is assembling the squad is making a massive mess of it and there are still plenty of things they need to improve on as a club.

You would have thought saints would have learned lessons from the past but still making the same mistakes.

I went to the Liverpool vs Milan match on Tues night. Saw a couple of cherry pickers at the back of the ground. Where you walk at the side of tesco and turn left into the car park. I doubt they will have anything to do with adding cladding so close to the start of the season....

Without reading too much into the silence, I will now do the opposite and theorise that if the cash flow and profits of the business were ahead of those planned then we would already see some plans published about when and where etc. This obviously leads to the conclusion that perhaps it hasn't been as easy as they thought to turn the business round into a profit.

Having said that, I was told at the match on friday by a bloke who says he is in "the know" (nudge nudge wink wink), that the matter is still with consulting engineers as there is real doubt that the weight of any cladding plus the roof would be too much for the structural beams and that ongoing litigation was under way against the design company.

The word I got from Friday was that the money was now in place for cladding, but still no date set for the work to be done.

Although the North Stand is now sponsored so that maybe were a small percentage of the cash has been stumped up.
