I was at the game and I didn't think he played poorly. I almost fell asleep, mind you, because Saints were - shall we say - not at their sparkling best, but Wheeler played fine and in fact did a couple of superb moves for which he should be very much congratulated.

hey mate, Im not arguing whether he played well or not because I didnt see. All Im saying is that if he did drop a lot of ball, give possesion away and miss tackles then these errors arent anything to do with playing out of position. They are just errors.

As for Wheeler I havent seen enough of him to comment, hopefully he will turn out to be as good as people think he can be.

It did seem strange to me that potter wasn't scared of leaving the young forwards on the pitch for extended time, but,not only did he prefer Flannery in the centre (which may have been a more comfortable position for Wheeler) but even when Pryce picked up a knock and we were winning by a hat-full, he didn't give him a run at 6?

I trust Potter on this for the simple reason that 3 years ago, Tomas Bosc was a reserve winger for Catalan.

According to the stats he made 3 handling errors and 1 missed tackle.

Tom hasnt played because his contact states that 5 first games means his current contract is ripped up and a new one offered, the club are thinking this through.
Potter wants Wheeler to get some game time under his belt but wants to see him play full back rather than at 6.
Kyle may come in when fit but the club have had a couple of offers for reserve players from the other code (Via a well know R.L 'legend!!)

That statement is legally flawed.

I think that what happens is this, although I may be wrong.

Only the top 25 players wages are counted for salary cap purposes. However if a player from outside those 25, makes a number of first team appearances (I'm not sure how many) then this salary is counted in the clubs salary cap allocation.

Maybe this is what St. Dave is eluding to, or maybe Armstrong does have a clause in his contract that takes him up to the next salary band if he plays 5 first team games or more.

I think given a choice, Wheeler would be in the team first - not entirely sure why Potter gave Armstrong the first chance, but Wheeler has looked more impressive.

hold on at the start of the season u were all saying that he was just as good as meli but now wheeler has come through you are all saying he wont play again. don't get me wrong wheeler is better but at least give him more time

I hope so. I hope we'll be seeing much of all our young up and comings. I hope that Potter gives them all opportunities throughout the season regardless of injuries. I'm sure the senior guys won't mind that one bit, especially those gently wandering towards the twilight of their careers.

I can't believe some people. He's played reasonably well (with a few mistakes) out of his own position in several games at a young age. Yet some people are writing him off. Unbelievable.

not writing him off, but doesnt seem as promising as wheeler, who was also playing out of position (6), whereas centre and winger are partially interchangable
