I do accept there is a lot of poverty in India, but they can afford lots more than we can and many more of their companies are taking profits out of the UK like Typhoo.

I think the issue here is the definition of local. Pilkingtons for example- for me any company that puts bread on the table of thousands of St Helens residents and supports many other local industries is a local firm, and the fact that that company, that we can all agree upon sprouted in St Helens, is now a multinational plc surely cant detract from its suitablity to be a corp partner.

Not a fan of this Halo talk, also wouldn't be suprised if the stadium name follows suite, as with the Saints RL branding, and trys to represent a larger audience than just St Helens.

Yes its heritage/history was british until the shareholders sold it down the river but thats all.

To my fellow pedants, NSG owns "pilks" and has lost money every year since it bought the pilks plc mainly due the debt interest, but has finally effectively broken even this year. In NSG's its annual report, pilks doesn't even get a mention ; it is just part of "European Operations" which only makes up 41% of group sales. Its sad but true that pilks can only remotely be desribed as british.
The top UK group company didn't even pay corporation tax last year according to its last filed accounts- it got a £6.3M tax rebate!!

NSG. That's the name of the Japanese company. Since they took over, a friend of mine working at the Latham plant has had to re-apply for his job on three occasions. Redundancies have been rife although thankfully a mini reinvestment has taken place with 100 new jobs being created although I doubt very much any of them actually went to local people.
