If he's carrying an injury that requires surgery it makes his end of season performances even more phenominal

| James Roby is out due to needing surgery.
Not sure how Joe Burgess has been picked over Tommy, good player but not ready for international just yet whereas Tommy has earned his chance this year.
Joel Tomkins plays which is reasonable but risky due to the short time he's been back.
Mike Cooper has been decent this year but I think others deserve a spot ahead of him.
Dan Sarginson? WTF

Pretty shocked that Joel Tomkins made it. How many games has he played?
I wouldn't pick Tommy for England to be honest, I don't think he's international class.

| Some very unusual choices. Cooper, Joel, Burgess and Sarginson being the more comical ones. How would people see England line up then?

| My concern is who is going to kick the goals? Those in that squad who can kick don't look like being first choice in their position, apart from perhaps Matty Smith and he's been very hit and miss this season.

Hasn't Matty smith kicked most goals this year?

I think so, but he has also missed the most. Think he averages just under 70%. Apparently Widdop kicked for the Dragons this season so he will be an option I guess

Widdop is a pretty handy kicker from what I've seen, think he hits about 75-80% off the top of my head.

| Smith isn't good enough to be England's goal kicker sadly. He's kicked the most goals because he's playing in a side that scores a lot of try's.
Gareth Widdop will kick the goals. If he's not playing I'd get Ratchford in the side.

| McBanana is a bloody useless, clueless, incompetent fool. How he is in a job is beyond me. Doubt Wigan are happy having 7 players in the squad, you can expect wigan to start slowly next season! No place for Makinson is frankly outrageous as well.
its good for the saints club that we have no players represented, as our players will get a longer rest and better preseason , but for England to have no players from the team that finished top and are in the GF is bizarre at best

Surely you can see that both are false positions for Saints? We finished top simply because Leeds, Warrington and Wigan were all very cocky about their ability to win Play Off games to reach OT and their attempts to play the system to give them the best chance of going into the GF with fuel left in the tank.
Who at Saints deserves to be included? Roby would be in, but he's not fit. Makinson was probably in with a shout but it's hard to argue that he's better than Burgess or Hall. Walmsley is another in with a shout, but he disappears completely in the big games. No one else is remotely close IMO.
Who would you have had in the squad?

I agree, I dont think I'd have picked any saints players at all. Maybe walmsley but nobody else that's for sure.

When you have seven overseas players in your squad it does limit the opportunities though.

| Me being selfish i'm glad no Saints are in the squad as we'll get a good pre-season under our belt and start strong like this year until our injury curse kicks in again.
Tommy Makinson should have been in the squad though but can't argue with Hall & Charnley as starting wingers.
Is Tommy better than Burgees ? both been good this season.

I'm the same. No players extending their season by a month and the additional travel to the other side of the world means a better pre-season for us.
With us needing to finish top 4 next year, a good start is important. Therefore I'm not fussed at all about having nobody in the England squad.

| kyle Amor should have been in but its not as if we are short of props either.
People moaning about Burgess not being good enough are nuts but he won't start anyway and Sarginson has largely been great this season just look at his game against warrington plus he was the knights stand out player along with powell last season.
But i would imagine Burgess, Tomkins and Sarginson are in the squad to become comfortable in that environment and not to play.

His defence has been o.k. but there is no way his overall form has warranted selection. Bateman would have been more deserving than him IMO, but I'm glad he's not going as he does need a rest and a good pre-season.
Personally I would have gone with Ablett.

I said the same on the FC board. Ludicrous that Makinson (especially) LMS and Walmsley aren't in there. Burgess is one for the future, but not sure about Cooper, Sarginson or Joel T.
