| He isnt the guickest of blokes, though no slouch, but he is a real handful due to his size.
He is freakishly strong for a teenage player.
The interesting thing is that potentially next year we could play an all British backline with Wellens or Swift at fullback, wings of Foster and Makinson, centres from Turner, Wheeler and Jones, and halves of Gaskell and Lomax.

| Well it would seem he is already first choice left centre , the arrival of Turner wont change that as he is a direct replacement for Shenton . Hopefully Brown and the other coaches will be working hard with him to help him kick on and keep improving

| He's been fantastically impressive so far but needs to maintain it for next season. I hope he doesn't fade away as so many great teenagers have done in the past.

| A lot of talented younger players find the physicality of SL the most difficult obstacle to overcome while in development. As we can all see that isn't the case here and although he has a lot to work on I have higher hopes for him than most of the backs we have brought through recently. If he can improve his skill set he will be a major player in the years to come.

That would be great but unless Foster makes a HUGE improvement in the off season, I think Meli/Gardner would be a better bet to play on the opposite wing to Tommy. Meli has been excellent lately in my opinion.

| I've been really impressed with him when we've played you and I can't see how the lad could lose his place to somebody like Jordan Turner who's too inconsistant.

| Josh Jones has never let us down and with a bit of space he causes problems due to his size and strength. The worry I have with Jones is his lack of pace at Centre. I think he needs a quick winger outside him and we need some pace on the other side to counter it as he's the type of player that needs half a yard of space to push people off.

He showed a bit of pace when he made the break in the second half.

Turner didnt even make the 17 last night due to the form of young Crooks and would be amazed if he played against Hudds next week.Sts are replacing 1 bad 1 in shenton with a worse 1 in Turner.

Shenton has improved since he got his move back to cas. He looking more dangerous with the ball.
It should be pointed our that shenton chose to leave and asked saints for the move.

Not according to his interview in the programme. He said it came completely out of the blue and that he thought he'd spend the rest of his career at Saints. Once he heard about the interest and that Saints were willing to let him go, he realised it would be the best thing for his family due to the travelling.
Another ridiculous move from McManus IMO, he's clearly better than Turner, which was just another stupid impulse buy because McManus saw him make that gallop down the pitch to score at Langtree Park.

Sounds like a soundbite the club would want the fans to hear. No coincidence his form returns just after he re-signs with his hometown club.

If he wanted to leave, why would the club not put that instead? The bit about him thinking he'd be here for the rest of his career is obviously cheese for the fans ears, but he very much makes out that he was pushed rather than walked.
His return to form could be just as easily linked to his confidence returning after his injury? After an arm break/dislocation it takes a long time to really trust it again.

If he was staying you would be moaning about how his big salary restricts us in the transfer market and how he has been a waste of money.

I don't know what his salary is and I've always been in favour of Shenton, he's a really good player and I think he could have become a fantastic player at Saints if we'd had a decent coaching set up while he was here.

I agree - he's been utterly wasted here and releasing him a year early for nothing and still paying a chunk of his salary to do so is still just a bit bizarre...

I thought it was openly acknowledged that he's been released without a fee having been paid (Cas have no money) and with Saints continuing to pay a large percentage of his wages for the final year of his contract. Those wages won't count on salary cap to be fair, and by offloading him to a minor club on a multi-year contract now instead of releasing him as a free agent at the end of the year we've kept him away from Leeds, Wigan etc. but it still reaks of a poor bit of business any way you look at it.

I'm not overly surprised if we've let him go for nothing (fee wise) maybe inserting a sell on clause to make sure Cas couldn't just flog him and make a profit but I would be surprised if we were paying his wages. I'm assuming it's all confidential but it would certainly be a good question to ask Mr McManus at a future fans forum
