To behonest I could not see what he had done. They showed it a few times but it was tricky to see whether he had bent the elbow or broken the arm.

Not long term. Should be OK for Good Friday was the last I heard.

It looked for all the world like a break on the TV. His arm bent in two underneath his elbow joint. Hopefully we have dodged a major bullet here.

unfortunately i think this season was make or break for Lomax.

If we line up a replacement, it may do him some good - take the pressure off (and limit his rugby minutes) whilst he recouperates and conditions himself. if he can get fit again, he'll force his way back into the team, whether it be at #1, #6, #7, #9 or even centre or loose forward.

I think Swift could genuinely make a good shift to #1, he just need to have the confidence in his own mind, I reckon (otherwise it could be a train wreck). He's good under the kick, our most dangerous runner being elusive and strong. We'd just need to pick up a better winger than Dawson - What about that guy from gold coast who looked like a Samuri?

At a push I'd go with Dawson on the wing for a season. He's by no means slow. And to be fair to the lad, he's never had sufficient opportunity in a fixed position to develop any kind of confidence.

The club must have seen something in him or else they wouldn't have purchased. No use buying a player and then not giving him a chance.

Besides, I like the fact that he's put on a few pounds. He was very slight in frame last season. And wing really isn't a priority position. The Aussies proved that years ago. Provided you have someone who does what's necessary - it's ok.

The very nature of cruciate ligament repairs makes it extraordinarily difficult for any player to overcome successive injuries to the same joint.

Bear in mind that in the lead up to Paul Gascoigne's injury in the 1991 FA Cup Final and subsequent semi-experimental ACL treatment (via Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt, I think) a cruciate rupture was a career ending certainty.

Brian Clough, who was an extraordinarily lethal striker before he became arguably the greatest football manager this country has produced, is one of the most noteworthy victims of a ruptured cruciate.

Treatments have moved on significantly since Gascoigne's semi-successful ligament graft. But even cutting edge medicine still cannot return a badly damaged knee ligament to a hundred percent of its former functionality. Whilst the load strength of the new grafts are now superior to the original ligament - joint flexibility and elasticity is still an issue.

I figured Johnny's footwork might take a bit of a hit after his first injury and after watching his return he indeed seemed heavy footed and less able to change direction quickly. My guess is a second injury will degrade his performance less cumulatively than exponentially.

I hope I'm wrong because Lomax is a damned good player when fit.

It's quite clear that you thrive on spreading these rumours. Personally I don't see the point seeing as you obviously have a "reliable source." Any source claiming to be reliable would not be telling folk that Walsh will never play for Saints again.

So grow up and stop making things up to get attention.

If said source does actually exist, he/she is about as reliable as public transport in the snow.

Get ready to be holding your hands up. A retired friend of mine with loads of time on his hands takes his dog for a walk up to the Saints training ground and he tells me he's seen Walsh in full training and looking good.
