If I can just reprise this thread, you could argue that tonight was a good example of why Moore's negatives outweigh his positives. Saints were 8 points up, with momentum all their way, about to force Leeds to come away from their line again, and Saints were at that point running stronger and tackling better than a weary-looking Leeds outfit who hadn't had possession in the Saints half for an age. He'd already given away at least one penalty that I can recall, but momentum was with us. He then delivers a completely needless clothes line high tackle, Leeds boot it into our half, and it is essentially all over from that point. That set of 6 led to Shenton's arm break, Leeds' comeback try, and from that point on, it's all Leeds. It was a classic example of a turning point in a game.

Brainfarts like that cost not just matches, but championships. Get rid.

I was disappointed to hear that he is leaving, but you ate right, tonight he showed his weakness for giving away daft penalties that appeared to let Leeds back into the game. Hopefully Flanagan and hohaia can more than make up for his departure

Just while I'm at it - watch the video to see who had their feet glued to the spot to miss the tackle to let Burrow break for Hall's try that put Leeds ahead.

I want to be clear - I'm not making Moore scapegoat. You can't blame him for Leeds' excellent defence, and you can't blame him for the fact that Gaskell took more wrong options than right with the ball in hand, or that Lomax was invisible for most of the game. You can't blame him for the fact that Saints looked vanishingly likely to make a line break or set up a score (so much so, that I was wishing to God we had Pryce back on the field as a genuinely unpredictable playmaker). But Moore needs to find another club where his poor judgment won't be punished so seriously.

Moore gave away silly penalties and missed tackles at key points in the game tonight that possibly cost you a game it looked like you were going to win.
Each time he comes on the field in games i have seen is to give an immediate penalty away and same again tonight.

Moore's aggressiveness and its uses are debatable. What isn't is his lateral defence, which is even worse than Fozzard's. If an opponent is coming straight at him he has no problems. But any kind of sidestep leaves him sunk like the Prince of Wales in Hong Kong harbour.

I played on the same town team as Scott and against him when he played at Leigh Miners and again for Blackbrook. He always played at 6 at amateur level, then switched to 9 when he broke into Saints first team and at Huddersfield, can't understand why he now seems to be played at 2nd row?

Thats what you get with Scott and the main reason he's not kicked on to be a top player.

Finally someone with eyes who at least saw the same game I did. And yes we should have had Pryce on the bench as I've been saying all bl00dy week

Not picking Leon on the bench was a mistake and I knew it would be. He could have slotted in any of the back positions and IMO would have caused Leeds problems.

Very disappointing from Moore, not so much the tackle on Burrow because we can't be perfect but that high shot was deplorable. We had them on the rack and BOOM they're up the field on the back on that pen and then in. Did his indiscretions cost us the game? Like Roy I can't blame him but they were the deciding factors in the game because it took control of the game out of our hands. Leeds were able to exploit our right centre but didn't look like they could get up the field to do that until we helped them. Disappointing.

It's a different thing coming off the bench and IMO with the way the game panned out Leon would have been ideal.

I didn't see fatty wheeler cause much trouble either, he's so overweight and unfit im not shocked pryce took it as a insult to be dropped for a unfit chubby wheeler.

Well if rumours are true he will be Salford's penalty machine next year and not our problem. Shame really because he has the potential to be a top player

I like Scott and he's good lad as well but his concentration levels are poor.

We've absolutely no idea what state Leon was in. He's hardly set the world on fire this season and playing to the best of his (seemingly diminishing) abilities I doubt he would trouble Leeds' defence.

Well I'm impressed with Royce but everyone makes mistakes including coaches. This in my view was one of em.

I don't care if Royce knows wheeler better than but believe me I doubt it and I can tell you now I've never seen wheeler looking so "bulky" than he did tonight.

After the injury run old polystyrene Wheeler has had, I can't say I think it's a bad tactic to try and put a bit more meat on to to cushion the blows to his balsa-wood bones.

But on the belly?

It amuses me how people conveniently forget that Pryce has had three finals' worth of practice to make a difference against Leeds and has failed to do so on each occasion!

This game was lost the minute Shenton went off. We were overwhelmed at that point, regardless of Scott Moore being an idiot, which he is and he certainly didn't bloody help.
