It would be fantastic if they get 10 000 ticket holders and say 5000 sales(home + away) shirts at £40 average + other sales, the club cpould have raised an income of £2.5 million quid before the season starts.
Reckon the club should make a big publicity staement if we achieve 10 000, especially in this financial climate.

yes but you DO have those nice big concrete ones, the ones that hold a lot of fans givng them a nice head start as they leaving the ground, we know because Sky always show them ten minutes before the end of the game , Oh and the bridge adds to the matchday experience for the home and way fans, walking across is a very special feeling and the bridge does lead to somewhere very special indeed , Langtree Park !!

I'm not overly sure that the income from the season ticket sales will be as much as is made out.

Don't forget that a number of those tickets sold will be the 5 year deals, I suspect the club will have taken the income upfront for all those rather than receiving the monthly payments. Whilst the sales figure is exceptional, I think our actual income year on year will be less than it would have been previously until those deals finish (obviously depending on how big a proportion those 5 year deals are).

There wasnt that many 5 year deals sold,suprising really because It was a good deal imo.

Where the 5 year deals available after the 2011 season, if not then the Stobart Environment might have had some influence.

The income will still be greater than previously. If seaosn tickets hit ten thousand thats pretty much as good as our normal average attendance over a season. the income is hard to work out given the range of early bird renewal and full price tickets not to mention deals and consessions. BUt those deals where available at KR too. In the end revenue must be higher already.

Sir Mac will be looking at other revenue streams as well as the increase in season ticket holders.
The other revenue streams were not there at KR because of the state of the place, so I should imagine the BOD will looking at this great opportunity at Langtree Park.
I seem to remember about 5 years ago that the OZ club Brisbane Broncos mentioned that there non match revenue was that healthy that they could operate a few seasons with just 3000 fans.

I'm sure the board will be very happy with 10,000+ season ticket sales; hopefully it will end up closer to 11,000.

What is the advertising like around the town? The reason I ask is around Warry the wire have put a lot of effort it with huge posters all over the place saying "'tis the season ticket to be merry" with details of special deals and big photos of players like Morley in seasonal outfits?

Not around town there hasn't been! Not a poster or bill to be seen anywhere. You wouldn't know we had a rugby league team when walking around St Helens (except if you went to the stadium, obviously).

Saints have advertised in the Star and on their website but that's been it.

Jeez, to not tap into the feelgood factor the the stadium has brought would be feckin criminal.

I think the problem may be the Council rather than the club because when I went to the Theatre Royal in town to see Broken Time, a woman working there told us that the Council wouldn't even allow them to put up a sign directing punters to the place much less advertise around the town. It may be that Saints have considered advertising around town but have hit a wall with the Council and planning permission. That may not be the case either. Whichever IS the case, though, there hasn't been any advertising for the Saints around town for as long as I remember.

the council are feckless idiots (a generalisation of course) the only billboard i remember from before christmas was telling people to shop in warrington. I'd be astounded if there are similar billboards in warrington or wigan promoting St.Helens

The council have bugger all to do with advertising hoardings. You want to advertise on them you pay the owner of them.

Whilst I'll quite happily blame the council for a lot of things, the lack of advertising is not one of them.

Doesnt cost much to put posters up in shops around your town but credit where its due to get nearly 10k is a huge effort in this day and age, when we moved we had nowhere near that when we left CP.

With regard to ticket sales, a word of caution, there has not been anything official from the club re sales other than to state they had sold 8000. This was at the back end of November.

Talk of 9k and 10k sales is at this stage nothing more than conjecture, based on rumour and comments along the lines of a friend of a friend who works at Saints has told me they have sold 9k.

What i would say is that if Saints are not well past 9k now, then they will have to sell a lot of tickets between the new year and the 14th January (which is the last date stipulated on the Saints website for season tickets being on general sale) for them to have a chance of hitting 10k.

I would hope that Saints do announce the volume of sales prior to the seasons start as this is something they should use to promote not only the club but the game as a whole.

What i would say myself from looking at the reserved seating sales since the early bird deadline at the end of November is that the sales have dropped off markedly in December compared to earlier months.
If there are large sales volumes still occurring, then they must be in either the unreserved sections, family section or the West terrace.

Whilst it's the time of goodwill and all that I thought I'd give you something to smile about. My eldest Wigan supporting daughter bought her husband and my granddaughter Saints season tickets. USING MY BLOODY CREDIT CARD.

And that's exactly what I've been saying, the marketing has been rubbish fir years and aint improved with our new start in a new stadium.

Your have thought years of debt might have taught us that Money don't just come on a plate but it's got to be worked at.
