Cant blame him for what he did, saw the coin and chased it all the way down to Bath. He was never going to fit in around Bath, its a beautiful place with a lot of history and great pride in its rugby team and the players who play there keep their distance and stay under the radar.

Kyle isn't that kind of person, he was always the "I in team". I thought he would have picked up the basics of RU by now but clearly injuries have stopped him from progressing further. I can't see him getting much game time in their 1st XV anytime soon. They have very good players in key positions and theres no way a northern lad who has come down on a big reputation will displace them just yet.

I've never heard a team so obsessed with "going with youth" they was even moaning at wane for picking gelling ahead of a young pie.

I'm with them on that one. To bring a 21 year old over from the other side of the world when there is bound to be a few young local players who could try their hand on the wing is ludicrous. Typical of Wigan, but ludicrous nontheless.

Mind you, I can see Saints going the same way, which would be disappointing.

everyone would prefer a team of 21 yr old St.Helens lads ripping superleague apart, but it wont happen a good mix is always the way to sucesss.

I think fans of some clubs (especially Wigan) need to chill out on the whole youth thing. It's all well and good having a team full of 20yr old kids but lets be honest, it wotldnt win anything.

Rugby league isn't about trying to put 17 players that are under the age of 22 that are all homegrown, it's about winning rugby games.

The balance has to be right for it to work for the club, the older players and for the young kids.

The Wigan fans love the youth thing which IMO is laughable with their history of binning young lads for past 20 years but they now calling us for having overseas older forwards.

They need to see that our squad has foster, makinson, swift, Gaskell, lomax, clough, Magennis, Forster, greenwood etc that have all played this year.

Yup. That's why we got to the GF last season and were busy winning it for the first time since 2006 until injuries hit and we had to rely upon our experienced players to fail miserably in defence.

If you're good enough you're old enough. After last season then I would go for a good young local player over an import - be that import from over the seas or over the Pennines - every time (in the context of the original post I replied to). Unfortunately Saints seem to be going in the opposite direction, especially if reports about Manu and Turner are true.

Nor does having a bunch of old fogies or indeed a mixture of the two. We've been losing Grand Finals with all of the above; nothing to do with 'kids'.

I think you can get away with youth in some postions but I highly doubt a pack of 22yr old kids would do anything.

Next year we will have a oldish pack with perry, Laffranchi, TP, Manu all over 31 but we also have sia, wilkin, flanagahan, clough, Magennis, roby, LMS, Forster, greenwood all under the age of 30.

It's not like we've only got old forwards.

Same with the backs, we will have only wello, Ade and hohaia over the age of 30 and the likes of swift, foster, makinson, wheeler, jones, turner, Gaskell lomax that are young.

IMO its a good balance.

Yes but we won't play the young players unless the old geezers are injured and so we won't actually have that mix on the field.
