| Quote ="Noel Cleal"Warren Thompson; played in the cup against Featherstone. I liked the look of him as a player, short but very solid build, kinda similar to Walker. Warren is now at Rochdale with Gareth Frodsham.
Luke Thompson is an England Academy international who came up. I hadn't heard of him until a while ago unlike Percival, Savelio and Richards who have had big reputations for a while now. A late bloomer perhaps, given he is supposed to be a big lad maybe he has grown a bit in the last couple of years?

Savelio must be due a call up soon.

He hasn't played in the under 19's for weeks. So I assume he is out injured at the moment. I think that when he does get a call up, he will make a bigger impression than Greenwood and Walker. He is that good.
As for Luke Thompson, I have seen him a few times this year. He runs the ball in very hard. Nathan has obviously been impressed.
I will predict that next season we will see Thompson, Richards and Savelio promoted to the first team on full time contracts. Maybe Charnock too.

| I think Savelio had meningitis a few weeks ago, so will probably still be working back to full strength.

| Luke Thompson was one of England Academy's better players on tour last year, he looks more of a second rower than prop to me though.

You would think so given how they have described him in the article:
'Brown revealed that [uhalf-back[/u Nathan Ashe will also get extended game time at the Twickenham Stoop.'

Only solace is that its London. Expect other results after this mind, Widnes, Leeds, Wire, Bradford before the Exiles game.

He has played back row all through his time at Pilk's and at U16's scholarship at Saints.

Ashe played a number of games at stand off for the reserves when players like swift and gaskell (standoffs) played in the new glory position of full back.

| Another thing on Thompson, I haven't seen him play for a couple of years, but if he has beefed up he could easily play prop.

I think we'll see Makinson get shifted to the wing for either Ashe or Hohaia to play #1.

Don't know what the point in that would be if I'm honest.
All the work that Makinson has done at FB should see him continue there. His best game at FB was last week and it would be a shame to move him just as he seems to have shown signs of improvement.
Think on the wings we will see Swift and either Turner or Percival who will probably move there to cover for the short term whilst Gardner is out, at least. With Jones moving to centre.

IMO Makinson needs to stay where he is. Aside from his improvement in the position, that is just unnecessary disruption in a team that is already disrupted every week anyway and will be much more so this week with the absence of Wilkin. We need to just go with Swift on whichever wing he has played in before (so at least he has a general idea of which way to pass the ball!) and put either Turner or Percival on the other wing, although I'm inclined to say Turner as Percival being the less experienced player needs some consistency.
I wish I could remember which side Dixon plays on because whichever side he is on is the side we need a particularly good defence.
We are going to miss Wilkin's contribution to defence.
I am not looking forward to the scoreline for this match.

He has altered between the right and left wing this season, more recently been playing on the left.

| Personally I'd play Percy and Turner down the right with Turner on the wing. That combo would rip Dixon a new one and would score a few points. It also has the pace to handle him in defence.

I was going to suggest Dixon was lucky that Meli was out, as he'd give him a torrid time. Whilst he's obviously got some goods in attack, he's reportadly error prone and not great when faced with a physical winger - See Dixon vs Alex Brown.

Sculthorpe at 6?
"I can honestly say I feel fitter now than I've ever done," he says. "I train six times a week at a gym in Wigan. Then there's the boxing, the cycling and other stuff too.
"If anything, it's actually a higher intensity than when I was playing and I've been at it since the day I retired."
So what about a comeback at the age of 35?
"I know I could do it. No problem."
