Yep. Just read that on the Saints website. I was assuming it would be Longy, since he loved doing that for us. But his went wide. As did ours.

Looks like we've lost James Roby.

Roby doesn't go off unless he's in some pain, he's a very strong and brave lad. Lets hope it isn't too bad.

Hopefully were getting our injuries out the way now.

Just reading the report on the website, and this was the quote:

'James Roby was felled on 53 minutes by a ferocious tackle that saw him leave the field – an injury that may have been caused by an illegal leading forearm.'

In all honesty I thought we would struggle tonight, a win would have been a bonus!
Decent effort comparing our pack to there pack! We lacked size in the back row.

well we didnt lack size in the back row in the first half though did we?

He was knocked unconscious according to the Sky guys on the red button show.

Also, Mick Potter is apparently happy with our effort in the second half and apparently this game should teach our young players how to close a game down.

Well, I'm glad someone was happy at losing a 20 point lead!

It seems Shaun Magennis got his debut.

for those who didn't attend, you missed an absolute cracker this evening. Best game of rugby I've been to for a few years (and I honestly would be saying the same had we ultimately drawn or lost)

it was expansive, end to end and full of big hits and good kicks...exactly what you want to see from rugby league.

O'Meley's run at Roby changed the game, as it fired the whole team and the crowd up. And Hull simply got on a run and had so many sets that Saints tired.

yes Saints probably could have wrapped the game up at 26-6, but you can't discredit how good Long's kicking game was, he pegged Saints back time after time, which ultimately helped tire them out and allowed Hull to stage a comeback.

Roby wasn't "felled by a ferocious tackle" at all, seeing as though O'Meley had the ball, running forwards with it, and Roby went in for the tackle and got knocked sparko.

Roby shot out the line to put a hit on O'Meley and the ogre dropped his shoulder and Roby was out before he hit the deck. Unfortunate, but part of the game and certainly wasn't a leading forearm.

Putting the Roby incident aside for a moment I thought it was a great game. It had pretty much everything you want from a RL game. Some great tries, big hits, aggression, tension, the works. The atmosphere in the 2nd half was electric too.
Hope the folks who made the trip enjoyed their visit.

Its a big coincidence that these sort of comments are only coming from fans of the winning team!

I'm assuming you didn't think it was a good game then. Whichever end of the result you were on I think anyone is going to be hard pressed to deny it was an exciting game to watch.

same could be said of fans complaining of alledged illegal forearms whose player comes off second best in a tackle!

It was great game, some cracking tries, bags of heart and a drop goal fest at the end (I think there were 5 attempts before Tickle finally slotted one). Even though the Saints fans who went will be annoyed that you let a lead slip, I don't think anone could deny it was a very good game.

I wasn't able to make the game so i don't know, i forgot to put

at the end of my post. It was more a tongue in cheek comment, as Saints fans that saw the game, probably won't be home just yet, so that'll be why they haven't commented on the game. Anyway, those type of games are never good when they go against you, especially when your 20 points up with 27 minutes to go.

I do see your point and I'm sure I'd be mightily hacked off if roles were reversed although perhaps the more philosophical fans amongst those that went will see it for the great RL game it was once the dust settles.

Oooops.

It was a superb game of RL I thought. Hull take the lead, then never see the ball for the remainder of the first half. FC put Meli under pressure early and he bombed it twice, but Meli got back on the horse and pops up with a hat trick, even had a bit of biff. 2nd half, saints go over courtesy of a Meli 4th, a wonder effort from him. We miss the goal and dont actualy threaten the FC line again that half. Nearest we got was when we put a shot on Shrek, causing him to spill the ball on the first takcle, 10 out from his line, also shrek left the field injured from the hit. We then ( courtesy of scotty moore I think, maybe wrong though ) throw the ball away to an FC player on only the 2nd tackle. That was that. At 26 - 26, it looked certain we would go down the middle and go for a one pointer from say 35 out, but nope we took it wide resulting in a towering up N under from Leon, that bounced in the in goal and then out for a dead ball. FC then blow 2 drop goal chances, both by Longy... we then have one final hoorah, but the drop effort from Moore was nothing more than a token gesture, it was a non starter. Then up steps Tickle and wins the league for FC and sends 13,000 fans home with memories of a real intense, rugby league game. I enjoyed the match and the stonkign atmosphere, best atmos I have been in for many a year, even better than the atmosphere at RUss Abbotts parties.

What a game, one of those " i was there " games for me, just like when we lost the CC semi final to leeds back in ermmmm 2003 I think, with Mc Guire scoring in the corner and Sinny kicking the goal line conversion to win it, anothe " i was there, wow" game that was.

A good game by all accounts. Just a pity it wasnt Long that kicked the drop goal, then you would have know what it was like to be a wire.
