| Sounds like McManus or Rush have ballsed up spectacularly here. The suggestion being put about is that Warrington offered him a lot more than we did. If this is true WTF are we playing at ?
Sounds an awful lot like the GF win last season has set us back five or six years and we're back to trying to do it on the cheap. If the rumours are true Warrington have signed Gidley, Lineham, Sandow and Savelio. Wigan have signed Sam Tomkins, why are we shopping at Price Slice?
Tell you what, our pack is going to be garbage next season. A couple of injuries and we'll be up the creek. Mose, Jones and Andre going and only Tasi coming in leaves us way short. That is forgetting the potential Savelio had.
Some of the stuff being said is ridiculous as well. Why should he accept a much lower offer from Saints?

Oh dear. I bit my lip last time. Let's not forget it's still nothing more than rumour...
KC has said there will be 2 or 3 more signings to come. Currently we sit at Jones, Hohaia and Wellens out and Tasi, SMD, Haggerty and another to be announced in. Pretty solid if you ask me. If/ when more leave, I'm sure there will be replacements. Davies, Knowles, and Ashworth will start pushing for spots in the pack, and all have equally good potential at the moment as well, maybe even Levy depending on how he develops. That's on top of the established Wilkin, Vea, Greenwood and Thompson who are already established. It's looking totally awful to me
Savelio is not worth the money of Percival, Thompson and Richards COMBINED. We have a lot of good youngsters coming through and the club shouldn't be held to ransom. No player is bigger than the club - remember Andy Bracek?

Simple because Warrington currently have no juniors who are good enough apart from Currie. If Saints gave Savelio a bumper pay packet then Greenwood etc... would of wanted something similiar. Saints probably offrd Andre a small offer with the promise that after 12 months we check his progress and give him a pay rise.

| Saddened, I like you mate but you are incredibly pessimistic.
We've got a great pack for next year. Masoe leaving in my opinion doesn't weaken us at all. He's lazy, and doesn't put a shift in so he can leave for me. We've signed the lad from Salford so that's a positive with hopefully more signings to come. We'll be strong again for next year.
I don't want to slag Savelio off because until it's confirmed then it's just rumours, however, if he has signed for them then good, I don't want players who aren't committed to the shirt. If it was a move to the NRL or to Union then fine, I can understand their desire to prove themselves on that platform...but to move to our rivals down the road for a bit of extra dosh, I don't respect that. I can only imagine that kind of attitude dragging down the mood a bit in dressing room too.

| I don't understand the anguish. It's been common knowledge all season that Savelio is leaving.
Admittedly, Warrington would be a surprise. But not if they've decided to offer silly money.
Sav has his heart set on the NRL. But if Wire have lost their marbles it makes sense to milk the silly buggers dry for a couple of years and then go to the NRL.
Big contracts demand big performances. So far Andre has been nothing more than an exciting "bit part" player. It makes no business sense to tie ourselves to someone who a) isn't the finished product and b) is likely to bail for the NRL anyway.
Stop crying, gut up and have the intelligence to realise that if true we've dodged a .50 calbre bullet. Ultimately, any player who quits the champion club for an also ran is not a champion player.
As for Saddened - didn't you throw a similar tantrum when that other star, England International forward (as yet unrecorded), Andy Bracek, took Wire's filthy lucre?

| I'd be surprised if he signed for Wire, but like like Mug says its been common knowledge for years that he wants to go to the NRL. I think he'll have another year or 2 with us before getting a gig down under

| Who is Savs agent, I was lead to believe our club had the improved contract offer on the table at the start of this new season. I hope his agent isn,t creating a bidding war and unsettling Sav in the process.

Erm .... that's what agents are for. The idea that Sav's mind has been twisted by the malign influence of an agent is silly and a reversal of cause and effect.

A Sydney based agent………..I,m just hoping we are not getting another "Eastmond Scenario" where there is a possibility of the agent seeing the opportunity of making more money by advising him to move away regardless whether it is good or bad for the player.

| I should say that I once attempted to pin Jon Wilkin (in his official capacity as head of the players union) down on the question of agents playing not only the NRL off against SL, but RU, too.
He handled the question the same way one might deal with a barrel full of radioactive waste spewing deadly fission products in all directions.

If a player wants to play NRL, he's got to show he's worth it. He's got to stand out and play consistently well.
If Warrington sign Savelio, they will do so on a four year deal. Two good seasons for them, then sell him for a few hundred thousand pounds.
You all blindly support the club no matter what they do. I was absolutely bang on about the club neglecting the playing staff post KC/Scully and unless the club starts waking up it's going to happen again. Not only are we not in the bidding for the big names anymore, we're not even managing to keep the young players we produce either. That's a bad combination.
But hey ho, we've managed to tie down Matty Dawson

If the club listened to you we'd have swapped out our entire backline for Wakefield's a couple of years ago and wouldn't have seen this:
"Not only are we not in the bidding for the big names anymore"
Like who? Asotasi? Bowen? Locke?
"we're not even managing to keep the young players we produce either."
Like?

So a squad player who wouldn't make a fully fit team at centre or back row is leaving as a RU team has offered him money that we'd be silly to match.
Plus a rumour.
Calm down chicken licken. If it wasn't for another ridiculous run of injuries we'd be miles clear at the top of SL, maybe the club know a thing or two about assembling and retaining a competitive squad?

You lot are too trusting though. We won last year, doesn't mean we should kick back and enjoy that glory for the next five years. Early days yet, but we're back to the ins and outs being daft again.

Maybe people trust the club because their track record of building a successful team is pretty good? Certainly judging by the trophy cabinet
Also it might be best waiting till the ins and outs are complete before passing judgement eh?

| I'd heard a few weeks back that Savelio may be on the move, but I expected that it was to Aus not Wire. It's a difficult one for Saints. If he has been offered a big contract elsewhere, should they match it?
What happens then when the next good young player comes through, do they pay over the odds for him too?
Saints will have put a value on him, and maybe they have been pushed into an auction and said at some point no. I know that's exactly what happened at Wigan with Ben Currie.

Although he hadn't progresses as far as Savelio, we had a similar incident with Andy Braceck. He was the same age as Jammer and was also a star in the under-whatevers. He wanted more than Saints were willing to pay and, in hindsight, the club were absolutely correct. At the same time, we've stuck Lomax on a much improved contract and not exactly had got VFM on that one, depsite his talent, before that, we didn't hedge for Eastmond and really got stung.

Give over. Sure, the NRL is ahead of SL. But if you think it's a full-blown meritocracy you've swallowed too much of the hype.
Ask any Knights fan what they think the single biggest aid to Darius Boyd's career is.
Quote If Warrington sign Savelio, they will do so on a four year deal. Two good seasons for them, then sell him for a few hundred thousand pounds.'"
If Warrington sign Savelio it will be at an inflated cost for a player who still hasn't locked down a first team jersey. Bear in mind that this is a player who is still RECOVERING from a debilitating physical and psychological ailment, the ramifications of which are UNKNOWN. Throw in the fact that he's marking time for the NRL and it's a no-brainer.

Well ... duh! That's kind of what [i"supporters"[/i are meant to do. What are you, some kind of half-assed [i"conditional supporter"?[/i As for me [i"blindly supporting the club, no matter what they do"[/i - this is a [uBARE-FACED LIE[/u and you know it.
Trumpeting how [i"bang on"[/i you are in a hysterical rant over losing a player who hasn't even been officially recognised as gone yet is about as plain an example of self-deception as I can think of.
But I'm prepared to play this game and recognise your divine powers of fortune telling if first you can tell me how many times you've been WRONG.
Quote But hey ho, we've managed to tie down Matty Dawson
'"
For heaven's sake, grow up. You know as well as I do that even if we somehow possessed the finances to assemble the RL equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters - the limits imposed by the salary cap preclude the possibility entirely. Which means TOUGH, UNSENTIMENTAL and ADULT decisions have to be made on which players receive the bulk of our salary quota.
The claim that Saints aren't "bidding for the big names" or that "we're not managing to keep the young players" is pure fantasy.
In any case, these are PROFESSIONAL rugby league players. Whilst their motivations will vary the issue of MONEY will be at the top of many's requirements. And if another club is willing to pay above the market rate you can be sure that no amount of "good will" on the club's part will stand in their way of acquiring it.
