Good Point Mr
Watching the superleague supermen interview with Eamon he still says Koukash is wrong/bonkers to want the golden tkt player when the academys are suffering?

| Eammon and Koukash clearly differ in their philosophy, but I was led to believe that they get on. MK was certainly a guest at Saints games before buying Salford. Whether relations have soured since then, I don't know.

| Koukash needs a charm offensive anyway to win over more chairman to ever get anything through. McManus is a respected voice amongst chairman, and probably worth not actively annoying by deliberately refusing on the basis it's McManus

And Mac didn't want to do business with Whelan/millward not Pollard/Wane. He's good friends with Pollard, although they disagree on a few things

| If we were going for a player swap we might as well throw in wheeler as a freebie, and send him with his personal physio table. Least then our physios could focus on the genuinely injured players

| So been reading koukash's twitter, and he's (jokingly) set the same asking price as what he paid for chase. If memory serves that was £115k right? I'd do that deal if I were Eamon - anyway each season ticket holder could (voluntarily) throw in a tenner to make it happen?

I'm not paying £10 or 1p extra for anything. I spend enough money at the club to watch half hearted lazy uninterested crap.

| Quote ="Magic Superbeetle"Using what you say, would you be happy with:
Lomax
Makinson Percival Jones Swift
Sneyd Walsh
Amor Roby Walmsley
Kirmond Vea
Wilkin
Hohaia Greenwood Thompson Masoe
Richards Beaumont LMS Savelio
Charnock Wellens Dawson Hewitt
As the basis of our 25 man squad next year? That would be Turner, Laffranchi, Soliola, Manu, Flanaghan, Clough, Gardner and Wheeler out, Sneyd, Vea and Kirmond in (and I would hazard plenty of room to bring in some more kids from the academy and or the likes of London), so I'd suggest that that's more than feasible cap wise.
'"
The only thing what that squad is it would leave us very short with injuries. We can't afford to release that volume of players and not replace with some quality.

That's the problem with trying to bring in another back without (necessarily) losing one. My cap maths were:
Sneyd (plus change) for laffranchi
Vea (plus change) for Soliola
Kirmond for Manu (plus that change)
I don't think we can use much of Gardner and cloughs wage, as some - most will have been eaten up by Thompson, Richards and Percival's extensions I imagine. In the above team, I imagined the swap deal for Sneyd included turner and walker, but haven't accounted for their wages in the above rough cap math. Flanaghan and Wheeler also haven't been accounted for, and I'd imagine both are probably on average wages so would free up enough space for another signing too. Some would like to see a prop signed - scruton/ carvell would probably fill that space, that would leave whatever is left from the Gardner and clough money and whoever we lose for Sneyd (hypothetically) for depth signings - if we got (for example) McMeekan, Bishay and Caton-brown (if we do lose turner) we virtually have 2 sets of 17! I only didn't add them in because I think as a set of fans we struggle to understand depth signings! (Look at the reaction on here to when we signed Dawson!)
St. Pete: that's why I said voluntarily a voucher in the back of the book - giving £10 off next years season ticket, unless the club spend over £x k on a transfer fee to bring someone into the first team, would be an easy way to build a pot of money for transfers, and I bet I wouldn't be the only one happy to put in...

| After today's game anyone suggesting Sneyd is worthy of a Saints shirt is more deluded than the majority of Saints fans.
Nowhere near good enough. Never was.

Couldn't agree more! He had a half decent game against us last year at Langtree and everyone fell in love with him. He's average at best.
I'd have Wilkin at 6 before him.

I actually don't know, having read back a few pages, where the link to this guy came from other than him being available (for a fee) and some people saying 'he's available so we must be in for him' which then became a 'rumour'.
The Rumours thread then went mad about the possibility of him signing for us when, to my knowledge, it wasn't even a rumour.
Maybe we should rename the Rumours thread 'Dreams and fantasy Saints signings'. In any case I hope we go absolutely nowhere near him. If we can't get better than what we already have then stick with what we have.

None of the "big clubs" will touch him. I can see him staying at Cas.

Agree Pete and I hope it stays that way. Whilst he's undoubtedly had a half decent season the Sneyd we saw today was the real Sneyd - Joe Average with very little in terms of organisation or leading a team around the grass. He took his try well but the difference between him and Walsh was massive.

I'd be careful about slaughtering a player based on one game. Sean Long had many a day where nothing he did came off and he looked a prize fool, particularly early in his career. Note I'm not saying he's the next Long, I've not seen much of him, although what I have seen was pretty impressive. Wigan is the rumoured destination for Sneyd at the moment, I just think there is something going on. He's at Salford, on a decent amount and out on loan at Cas. He is playing well, the team is winning, so there is no reason to be handing in a transfer request. So it gets me thinking a club, presumably bigger or more appealing than Cas or Salford has contacted him?

Maybe he thought he deserved a contract upgrade for sticking with them through the tough times, coupled with his recent good form, only to be he'll only be getting one with an extension at the end of next year (as opposed to the start). As a result he will shop himself about to get himself the best deal? Same happened with broughton I believe

| You can't judge Sneyd from that match yesterday? He started at Halfback then went to the wing then fullback where he had more joy and scored a try?
I'd have him at Saints, with him in our side yesterday we would have scored more points

I think there's a few reasonable assumptions in there to be fair. I've watched him quite a bit this year and, I may be wrong, but I honestly don't see it and suspect he's got far greater press because of the general (deserved) positivity around Cas this season.
I just don't see him as any better than Lance as an option, apart from his kicking.
As a slight aside, and apols for this not being on the Rumours thread, but I heard yesterday from someone who's usually pretty well informed that Lance is off to Salford next year. I'll believe when I see but share and share alike and all that....

Lance is a world cup winner and a hooker. Presumably he'd play 9 for them? Slightly better than Howarth I'd say.
